Anyone else listen to him? Or even know who he is?.... Or Jim Croce for that matter?

Lol no you are not alone. I have quite the eclectic taste in music. My mp3 player has everything from black flag to louis armstrong on it.

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 1:48:08 AM)

Ok, found these lyrics, and they seem a lil... I dont know what, maybe its a symptom of the time they are in, what do you think?

Rosanna makes my day begin
With kisses for a king
And coffee on a silver tray
She sees the shape I'm in
And if she should ever break away
I'd follow close behind her
'Cause Rosanna yes Rosanna
Rules my heart
Rosanna knows the times I keep
A fire softly glows
And the shadows lick the walls
She knows when I'm asleep
The dinner's served at eight o'clock on time
And all is well by nine
'Cause Rosanna yes Rosanna
Rules my heart

Rosanna moves across the floor
Her perfume fills the air
As she walks beside my easy chair
I touch her hand once more
And I may never sleep again
I like the bag she put me in

Rosanna knows the ways of a man
But not the way I feel
I don't really care what happens now
It's catch me if you can
For no matter what occasion should arise
She likes to sympathize
'Cause Rosanna yes Rosanna
Rosanna, Rosanna
Rules my heart

Yup to all three)

SubinMaine -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 2:59:16 AM)

i love them both....Jim Croce moreso.  I was listening to time in a bottle not too long ago and actually tuned into the guitar work on that song.  INCREDIBLE.

childoftheshadow -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 2:59:53 AM)

The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald has always been a favorite of mine

liketophoto -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 3:03:57 AM)

"According to a legend of the Chippewa tribe, the lake they once called Gitche Gumee 'never gives up her dead.'" --

Have heard it a thousand time and can still listen to it.

I also like Emerson, Lake and Palmer, War, Pink Floyd..etc.
What would life be without music?
Perhaps that is a problem with society today, not enough people really sing anymore.

Funny you should ask this.  I was just playing "If You Could My Mind" on the piano. He's probably one of my favorite singer/songwriters, and that's probably one of my favorite songs of all time.

I've never been a big Jim Croce fan, though.

KatyLied -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 7:52:10 AM)

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down . . .

I prefer Harry Chapin.

soul2share -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 8:50:56 AM)

I used to know ALL the words to the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.  Croce was OK, ELP good, also loved CSN&Y.  Supertramp's Breakfast in America was good too.....sigh....back when music was actually music.....

Those were the days, my friend,
We thought they'd never end......

YEEEEE-HAH!  I'm kinky again......

CalifChick -> RE: Gordon Lightfoot (1/29/2008 9:59:55 AM)

I think I'm in lust with every single one of you.  Sigh.

Gordon Lightfoot?  Isn't he Flash Gordon's native american cousin/sidekick? [8|]
