Oh, yes, the point is my introduction. Gah. Hate having to do it for myself. Lessee...switch, dominant masochist, budding domme who, contradictorily, just *hates* the concept of anyone calling hirself a slave...(Lincoln freed the slaves, remember?)...and a tendency to occasional accidental puns.
Asked a lover a decade back to demo bastinado on my greedy feet, and popped my vanilla cherry. (Sounds like a sundae, I know.)
Best explanation of the scene I've seen yet is a Kinkfest handout that uses Venn diagrams (you know, those overlapping circles they used to teach set theory in the 1970s, back when no one was learning how to multiply any more) to demonstrate the three distinct segments of scene:
* Dominance & submission (a.k.a. bondage & domination for the first half of the BDSM acronym)
subsets within this circle--role play, fantasy fulfillment, M/s, 24/7, mental control/manipulation
* Sadism & masochism (and there's the other half)
subsets within this circle--every form of physical sensation play (top and bottom)
* Sex
subsets within this circle include all the true "fetishes", meaning anything that gets you hot, bothered, and ready to come.
And within those circles, there are overlaps of any two...and humans being human, all three intersecting at the center.
Fun, huh?
