Greetings,

The sky *is* blue. And the grass *is* green.

Raven

Well Top O' the morning to You Raven..

The sky here is indeed blue, ok, there are a few clouds, but still....blue. The grass is also a lovely shade of green.......although the desert heat has made some of it a tad bit brown in places. All in all....it's great!

*grinz*

Have a good day..

~smilezz~

The sky *is* blue.

The sky only appears to be blue due to the effect of Rayleigh scattering.

MrThorns -> RE: Interesting...... (9/4/2005 11:23:17 AM)

Just for the sake of being argumentative:

No it's not.

Grass reflects green and absorbs all other colors..so it may appear green. If we are saying that something "is" based upon it's contents, then you would have to say that grass is everything except green....the sky is everything except blue.

"Interesting" that you state it that way. I will reserve my conclusions until I get a few more argumentative responses.

Why do you want argumentative responses? Conclusions about what, the science of refraction and light waves? The boyfriend is a physicist so if you want someone to discuss particle theories and such I've got a contact for you.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Interesting...... (9/5/2005 11:25:32 PM)

Actually around here everything"grassy" is brown, because the heat and it's fire season

FangsNfeet -> RE: Interesting...... (9/5/2005 11:36:31 PM)

What makes the grass grow?
BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD!

What makes the Grass Green?
GUTS GUTS GUTS!

As to what makes the sky blue, I would venture out to say that it needs more oxygen. After all, we've been known to turn blue when we don't breath.

Okay, now the real reason for this post *chuckles*

My sister and I did some begging to get my Master to post this thread. We really really wanted to see what would happen and he decided to do so out of curiousity, I think.

My original supposition: "If you post something as simple as "The sky is blue" youre going to get argued with. Why? Because the minute your name pops up.. thats the response it generates. You seem to have become the anti-christ, so can we see how far it goes?"

Now granted, the responses were not as bad as I thought they would be. I fully expected a "How dare you say the sky is blue? Its not blue over my house. How dare you assume, you horrible Gorean asshole?" Im rather thrilled that noone actually did that.. but the fact that I assumed they would should probably say something about what Ive been seeing lately.

At any rate.. it was a fun experiment. Have a lovely day everyone.

Yep. To complete the explanation, all the light from the sun is scattered by the atmosphere, but the short wavelength (blue) are much more scattered than longer wavelength. Therefore from directions other than the direction of the sun, you can only see the blue light. Without this scattering we could see the stars during the day.

fastlane -> RE: Interesting...... (9/6/2005 11:52:52 AM)

Fastlane points up and then runs for cover screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!"

Oy [:D]

Although I didn't respond to the OP, the responses have been fun and amusing and show us lowly BDSM'ers' quick wit and great sense of humor. [:)]

Off to enjoy the beautiful blue sky and contemplate our somewhat green grass now (as I make high pitched guinea pigs sounds LOL),

It also didn't help that we all pretty much figured out what you were trying to do pretty quickly also. I "asked" why he wanted argumentative responses, but had already half guessed he was using this as a test thread before he made the comment and pretty much confirmed when he said he was waiting for argumentative posts.

It's not the first time and it won't be the last.

Enjoy your days,
