The Steel Curtain and Terry Bradshaw.  But that's only because you haven't mentioned the dynasty of the 21st Century, the Deeeeetroit Lions!

Oh, you mean "greatest" as in *winning*.  Never mind.  Steelers all the way then.

If only Bobby Layne and Joe Schmidt could come back!

It was the 84 Bears, they won the 85 Superbowl. I watched the game, got to stay up late. That was such a great team and season...

They had a freakishly brutal defense; I loved watching them swarm over everything in sight, and Walter Payton is perhaps the greatest player of all time, IMO..... but. Take away Payton, and that offense looks a lot more like Clark Kent than Superman.

I agree, Level. I cried when I heard that "Sweetness" died. IMO, Walter Payton is still one of the best running backs, ever. And always will be. And that is for more then his talent. I could rant here about the state of pro sports these days, but I won't. This is a fun thread. Thanks for bringing back the great memories!!

Hands down the 85 Bears

Highest scoring team in SB history (even with the starting qb sitting out 1/2 the 3rd and all of the 4th quarters),

Only team to shut out 2 opponents in the playoffs, tied the SB record for sacks.

The only team ever to have the balls to make the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJNC3dgreaU SB Shuffle.

If the Pats win the SB, score more than 46, with Brady sitting the 4th, hold the Giants to 10 or less, and sack Eli 7 or more times, I'll give them props, until then, screw the Pats.

In my lifetime the best team I have ever seen take the field was the '85 Bears.  It was the longest year of my life.  I think it was Packers QB Randy Wright who wouldn't go back in to the game.

Although their offense was rather marginal their defense has never been replicated.  If they played Miami ten times I believe they would have beaten them eight or nine times.

They put the fear of God into their opponents.  I have never seen a defense scare the crap out of their opponents like the '85 Bears.

It sickens me to admit this.

I wonder what would happen, if you took an All Star CFL team, and pitted them against the NFL champions?

What? No mention of the Broncos? Watching Elway as a rookie was a blast, he may be ugly as sin but that dude could throw a football.

Elway was a fantastic QB. But no, no Bronco team deserves mention as "greatest of all time".

hmmm... well OK Level, I'll take your word for it but I still think they kicked butt and they were great back in the day. Living in Denver come football season was absolutely the best.

Niners!!!

Then again, I'm a San Francisco girl.  But I was pretty much in love with Montanta, Rice, Craig, and Ronnie Lott.  NO one got by Ronnie Lott!!

I've never been a Dallas fan and never will be.

Pittsburg is a close second.

So are the Raiders.  Too bad Al Davis is an ass.

One great season?  I beg to differ, they have won 3 championships already, and on Sunday it will be 4.  That is a lot more than one great season.  Not to mention that win will kill the Dolphins record completely.  Not trying to be disagreeable, just stating the facts. Oh, and Tom Brady.....yum.

Patriots=dynasty=best team ever

New England, who knew, the Red Sox, finally, the Pats, repeatedly, it just keeps getting better.
