My husband wears the "screw down chain" from http://www.bondagecollars.com as his daily wear. (We got the spanner/snake eye screws.) http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i293/MzBeach/formalcollar.jpg In almost three years, only one person has ever commented on the "different" clasp and they were told it was to make the "necklace" hard to lose. They'll make this type of collar in different chains if you want something a bit more "frilly." They offer white gold, gold and silver chain.

I like the idea of chainmaile.

I make chainmaile jewlery, and I like the idea of using it as a 'collar'.  One could be woven on, or a clasp could be attached.

Such jewlery can be bought online.  A piece can be as fancey as you wish and made out of viturally any metal

Maybe not subtle with a capital S, but it kind of comes off as muscle guy jewelry.  I have seen wrestlers and such who wear thick chains.  Some peole do get the deeper meaning, though.
