Status: offline 		Are all sub/slaves/property owned by their Dominants? i read that some think they are owned and somne say they are not no matter what title they use. So at what level would you consider yourself being owned if you would at all?

Depends entirely on your personal defination of the titles in question and your defination of the meaning of the word owned. You'll probably get as many different defination as you do posters responding to this.

As me... I'm owned when we agree I am.

Status: offline 		I'm not owned.  The word has negative connotations to me.  My first husband was jealous, controlling and domineering.  I lived with his emotional abuse for years.  I'm a person, not a dog or cat or piece of furniture or a house.

Status: offline 		After asking about what it means to be property in a thread a month or so back....i have come to realize that i am property.

i am submissive, i am a slave and i am owned by my Master/Daddy....this is always.

i guess i may always also be property too but i don't feel like it most of the time....when i do it is usually an unsettling feeling to me..yet being owned in and of itself is a wonderful feeling to me...just the whole feeling like an object or like one of the kitties is sometimes difficult for me....i feel much more than that...think much more....AM much more...so sometimes i don't like the whole property thing in "feeling".

Status: offline 		I am the owned property of my Dom, Bo.  I love being owned by him.  I am a submissive though and not a slave.  I have slave tendencies, but could never be a slave without any opinions.  I'm VERY opinionated.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
 
A personal relationship is just that, personal.  The persons in that relationship decide what sort of relationship they want to have with each other and decide what they want to call it (and each other).  The meaning behind their choice of names is between them.  It's personal.
 
There's no need to try to come up with some universal, "one-size-fits-all", definition for what individual couples choose to call each other, whether it's "slave" or "baby" or "honey bee".  Why is it no one ever asks, "Do you have to wear only yellow and black striped clothing and collect honey, in order to be called 'honey bee' by your 'Big Cuddly Bear'?"

When I read this, I understood your feelings completely.  When my D first told me that he owned me, it made me feel as though I was merely a peice of furniture or a trinket that he posessed.

The more I research and learn more about this idea, the more I feel as though his "ownership" of me is the purest form of his love and protection for me.  I have given myself to him because it is what I need and want.  So his responsibility is to protect me by his ownership of me.

Status: offline 		I am slave and I am owned. I love knowing that I am owned. To me being an owned slave being property is not a negative thing. It may put me on the level of pets or other items that he owns but I am a treasured and much loved piece of his property.

Status: offline 		I just wanted to answer this from a Dominant perspective.  I don't really care what my girl refers to herself as (property, submissive, slave... whatever), just so long as she obeys.  The labels are immaterial to the facts, and merely representative of personal preferences.
 
Similarly, I have a good friend who will call his submissive/slave/property/wife nothing other than "girl" because he's not interested in the inferences people draw from labels.

Status: offline 		Before i met my Owner i was against being owned or anything but a submissive, but when he explained to me the meaning that it holds for him and i saw  all the benefits and rewards that come with being owned, i fell into it completely and happily. i guess like every relationship is different so is the definition and the way an individual perceives it to be, and how they chose to live it. .

Not picking on you at all, but why do so many think that slaves can't have opinions?  I am a slave to the one I am with, but I can say with assurance that he would agree I always share my opinions with him (even when he doesn't ask). 

I am owned by him.  I wouldn't say that makes me property, but if that is what he chooses to call me, it's fine by me.  I know that I am of high value and loved by him no matter what name anyone gives it.

i need to be loved, cherished, adored just as any human being does.

  this is the simplest concept...why do we make it so hard by trying to follow or create some sort of outline?

Right but you did ask for her viewpoint. She wouldn't feel that way if considered property so it really doesn't matter if you or anyone else does.

See, this is another example of why it's pointless to try to have one big universal definition for everyone, who just so happens to have submissive tendencies.  Everyone is different, even when we share some things in common, such as being human.  This human being doesn't need or even desire to be "cherished" or "adored".  In fact, i can't stand it when someone starts to treat me that way.  i don't even need to be "loved" by my Master, in order to feel good about belonging to Him and serving Him.  He cares about me and He takes care of me and that's enough for me. 
 
Isn't diversity great?  We're all different and there's plenty of room under the big BDSM tent for all of us.
