Gwynvyd -> RE: Anyone have Time Warner cable? (2/1/2008 3:39:40 PM)

yeah that was the deal.. in some regions Comcast bought out all the Time Warner properties ( like Florida) and in others Time Warner bought out all the Comcast properties ( appaernetly where you are) Since both companies went in to buy the bankrupt Aledphia. Converging both companies networks ( or what we call "Plants") is the largest pain in the ass, has huge pitfalls.. and no one had any idea just how hard it was untill they tried. Not everyones "plant" is created equal. In my old region Our plant for Comcast rocked out loud and hard. We spent a lot of time and money on it to upgrade to digital phone service. We were the first ones to start digital phone service in our Company because of our plant and infastructure. *sniff sniff I was so proud* When TW came on board and we had to add thier shit ( and I mean that literialy) onto our network it sucked hard. No one was happy. As for billing issues all utility bills and well bills in general are tablulated and sent out by computers. There are no gnomes sitting in a back office some where tabulating who is using what, and who's house is still standing or was effected by what. They do not run police reports to see if any ones house burnt down.. or in case of natural disaster ( our district was hurricane central ) who's house is still standing. There are no "reports" you could even search to see who's is or isnt. We went through hurricanes left and right over the years. Many homes were lost or dammaged. All a customer had to do was eventualy ( no time limit of within a week, or a month what have you) tell the company and we would take it off the bill. Some homes were hit, some were not. With Hurricanes, and tornadoes it can hit one house, and miss the house right next door. Unless you tell someone they have no bloody idea your situation. Acting like a complete ass because *you* didnt make some one aware of your situation is just idiotic. To get charged for the boxes they had to either cancel thier cable totaly, or get totaly new boxes, and not turn in the ones on the acct ( due to damage ) and not tell the installer or counter person why you need new boxes. So the customer did something on thier acct with out explaining what happened. ( again.. not the companies fault.. they do not employ mind readers. ) just my thoughts on it from knowing the industry. ( and more then any of you ever wanted to know about cable) I would play 1,000 hands of Uno a night before going to dish.... over priced rat bastards who never stop billing, refuse to cancel, bad reception..... Grrr... Gwyn
