Not very confidence building, that. I have Vista, but I am daily using win 98 Se, an old crappy computer which siezes and crashes daily, but it is the only computer that is online. My old lappy, a compaq it on win 98 gets online, but no not my six week old Centrino Duo powered lappy with the bloody Vista.

Why, well it is'nt compatible with my modem and my ISP is inundated with orders for wireless routers for all the other new vista owners who have had similar problems, I am just one of many in the list and last night I was told the ISP had had to reorder more routers such is the demand. So whenever it gets online I suppose, I have given up chasing them now, as it has been over a month.

Oh, one of the reasons I got a 'modern' computer for was Skype, but so far skype is a bit iffy with Vista, it worked with some machines, but with others it stuffed up the operating system, I am not prepared to take that risk yet.

Oh, and my photoshop program will not work on it, and I use photoshop regularly.

So, my new computer sits locked in my bottom drawer and I continue to pull my hair out with this heap of junk.

Yeah, I could admit defeat and look for a XP OS, but Vista should be better than this!!!

You could always install Ubuntu and use the GIMP instead of photoshop, or get a Mac.

I personally don't have a  problem with Vista.    I have been running microsoft since DOS v1.0   Although I don't see much improvement it seems to run fine to me.   Personally I thiink people are afraid of change.   I know that when Windows came out, I didn't like it but I got used to it and now love it.

I have skype on my pc...don't use it much but it loads.  I haven't disabled it yet.  As well as photoshop...both work fine with my version of Vista.
My biggest issue with Vista was having aol.  I've always like the quick mail view function aol has...without having to download all the crap to my pc to find out what it was.  Well, aol has a version that works with Vista..its just it really doesn't work with Vista.  I don't see aol fixing it since they went free.

May I ask what version of Vista you have, mine is the home basic edition, if yours is a bit higher this might explain the problems.

As to A.O. Hell, I do believe there is a freeware program out there on the net that once installed hunts for any reference to ao hell and destroys it, it was made specifically for that purpose, eradicating aol.

A friend of mine has the program and used it to kill the aol virus on his mother's Dell laptop.

So, if you want rid, don't despair, there are ways to kill it.

Vista Home premium.  I went with it because of the network capabilities.  The biggest plus, was actually upgrading and my printer still worked without having to buy a new one.
All previous versions of windows I had to buy new printers.
