camille65 -> Collar Comfort, A Query (2/1/2008 7:31:13 AM)

I've been struggling with my collar choice. My dom has told me that I am the one to pick it out and I 'think' I've decided on this.http://www.bondagecollars.com/index.htmlOne of the gold filled wire pattern types. [:)] Has anyone worn one from this maker? I have a concern with the weight, my collarbone can take very very little weight on it. For those that do or have worn one did you find it heavy? Did it feel obtrusive or did it become natural? Did it feel sharp on the edges? How is the quality of metal? (tarnish, denting, hard water issues etc) I don't want him to invest the money if I cannot wear it [:o] and we both want something special. This month celebrates the 8 year mark of his ownership of me. Thank you for your valued input.

when Daddy collared my last year, i noticed right way the heavy weight around my neck. it does take time for your neck to adjust to it ...i was instructed to only wear it in the morning and not sleep with it at night because i had this fear my collar might choke me. it took me about a week before i could actually sleep with it on.

with my metal collar, there weren't any rough edges or nicks - it's polished (Vlad did a wonderful job crafting it) and does hold well while showering however i remove it anyway. no dents, tarnish though i do polish with jewelry cleaner once a week.

Thanks for the endorsement Sambamanslilgirl.
I also have made them in aluminum for some customers that were worried about the weight.
Good Luck to you Camille I hope you find just the right collard for you.

Thanks Vad. As much as I like yours (and I do like them) I'm looking for something a bit more girly, the wire pattern fits my descriptive bill but I'm not yet sure if it fit-fits. Jeez who knew that this would be so dang hard to do? I think I've built it up in my mind as something..dunno. It IS important but I think I'm overdoing the worry bit. I want it to be perfect lol. Partly because I so rarely get time with R and partly because of just how much he means to me, how much it means to belong to him. So in my mind a collar has become a representation of 'us'.  ETA (seems that I can't finish a post today lol) Sambasis I am going to use the way you did it, though I want to wear it continuously, easing into it would be wiser for me. Thanks.

i haven't seen that particular type in person, but from what i know of metals...
Such a thing will be very delicate, weight should be insignificant. If the plating is 14-24k gold it should not tarnish or stain significantly; sterling silver probably will tarnish. It would not be appropriate for 24/7 wear, IMO, due to the softness of the metal and the fine design. i would recommend contacting the vendor, if you haven't already... they should be able to offer some more info on suitability.

Maaster is getting me one of his collars from what i have seen on other peoples they are fairly light and delicate. Mine will be worn all the time unless we are playing - if we are playing then he will replace it with a lockable leather collar as he is worried that the silver collar will get damaged by heavy play or being walked on the lead.

I really like the look of that collar.  It can be worn in public and only us in the lifestyle will know what it means.

Thanks petdave for the metal-reaction information, that is some of what I was hoping to learn. Heh and sometimes the obvious really passes me by, it didn't occur to me to ask the vendor about my wearability questions [8|]I think I'd spent so so much time looking & debating styles that part of my brain shut down [:D]

I wear a silver patterned wire collar (screw down) which Master purchased from this site.  It is pattern "A" which is actually very light and i barely feel it.  It does take some time to get used to, but eventually has just become a part of me.  I actually get alot of compliments from vanilla individuals about it.

The quality is excellent, we were both very impressed. Make sure you order it at least 1" bigger than your neck size so that it is comfortable.

Best,
{Their girl}
