Politicians, people, and media around the world have taken an interest in what has turned out to be a hotly contested US presidential race.

So who does the world want? Well the world is just as split as the American public. It depends who you ask...
Germans seem to love Obama, as well as the Italians. Most African countries also prefer Obama. While much of the rest of Europe wants Hillary as Bill was popular there during his presidency.
Japan also wants Hillary.
Mexico does not like any of the candidates. The Mexican president says they are all anti-Mexican.
Romney and Huckabee are seen by most of the world as being too religious to be president.
The Israelis prefer Hillary because of Bill's support of Israel during his presidency.

Not everyone wants a Democrat though...
The Iraqis and Afghanis prefer a Republican.
And the Russians also want a Republican, as long as it's not McCain who is a Kremlin critic.

The article you linked seems to whine that the Euro press is biased in favour of Democrats.

I wonder why?

PS: it's not new that the world shows an interest in the American presidential elections - every four years, the circus comes to town. I'd like to quote the Economist (London) - this figures in your 'The Thinker' article:

quote:

Nor is European enthusiasm for either candidate likely to survive the election of Mrs Clinton, Mr Obama, or whoever else becomes president. The person who gets voters' nod will rule as an American, promoting American interests around the world-and no doubt disappointing many watchers from abroad. For Europeans to imagine anything else would be naive indeed.

They do? heh, suckers... Apparently they are still labouring under the illusion that picking a democrat or republican will actually *gasp, shock* change one damn thing (Ron Paul being the exception).

Non-Americans wanting a vote in US election.  Now that's amusing.  :D

"World intrigued with US election?"

Yeah, well, "the world" probably slows down to gawk at road accidents, too.

I think it's tongue in cheek, actually. Nobody expects that: the reason why they make the joke is because whoever is elected here will end up having the power to rule issues in quite a few other countries.

Which is pretty much what makes it amusing.  If they meant it, it'd be depressing.

Doesn’t one presidential campaign start after the end of another one? It seems they are in a constant state of campaign. I find it very odd that people get paid solely to campaign. I can campaign too as it happens. Guess what I’m going to cut taxes and get the economy moving and at the same time I pledge victory in Eyerak and a medicare for everyone not just the healthy, cheap drugs, life means life sentences, errm I’m going to make society work for society. Bla bla etc. Pay me now regret it later, no win same fee.
