On the other side of Collarme, the profile side, if someone messages you with a proposal for whatever and you feel interested, what criteria does that person have to have in order for you to go any further?

Myself, if a message is received first I check if they have viewed my profile, and then see if they have been involved with the site , the 'view forum posts' button. This latter criteria though is not that important, but the former is.

Anything else I treat as spam.

What about the rest of you?

no profile is one that tees me off. What the hell? I mean, message me and ask me all kinds of stuff and then not have a profile? how did they get to post? Seems like if folks are aoolwed to post or message they should have a profile...

my 2 cents

Roseville, MI!!  hi, neighbor!

If the message is just a doofy one liner or something similar, instant spam.  If the person is interesting AND reasonably close by AND AND AND, I respond.  I don't look at forum postings as a guide, unless it's a person I have met on this side---really, very few from the profiles venture here.

if you're a sub when my profile says i'm looking for a dominant, no response or i tell you to email raven and let Him sort it out.

if you're above my age limit you rarely get a response--i can only stand being told you're so young and cute so long before i want to scream.

saying something strange helps -- His first email to me was something along the lines of i don't know why i'm bothering to send this it's not like i'm going to get a response.

and if you haven't read my profile i very rarely answer--i have a list of necessaries on my profile that's there for a reason and i don't really like the fact that you can't be bothered to read my profile before contacting me.

My reply criteria is generally:
1. Did somebody send me a message?
2. Can i make any sense of it?
3. Can i think of a reply?

I reply to everyone.

Whether or not I send a really stupid reply is another story.

I do not respond to long meandering messages that mention how I am going to make him happy or how we were meant for each other - and then says nothing that indicates he has read my profile. I don't answer one-liners or one-word messages (hi). If the message is badly written - awful spelling, poor or lacking punctuation, lack of appropriate capitalization, textspeak - I send a polite response telling the person I don't think we're compatible. (He's not gonna want me harping on him about his spelling and grammar, is he?)

If the message is written clearly enough for me to understand - even if there are spelling and grammar errors - and if it shows that the person has read my profile, I will first look at his profile and then shape a considerate response based on the profile and message. If the profile doesn't have an essay, I'll ask for information. If it does, I will try to show that I've read it.
