I have a dell, and it has room for thee drives, We bought my master drive from newegg and when it came he just put the new one where dells original went an the original in the slave format. I need to restore the slave drive, I confused some of my files and now they don't know where theybelong to p ut it simply.

Can you restore the slave drive and not everything else too. I want a simple answer. I asked someone else and their reply involved jumper cables and reformatting and rebooting and finally they said no Idon't think so.

A system restore would make the E drive just like it was before files got moved. Other wise tomorow we'd have to unhook it all make the slave the master do the restore then return it to slave again

You can use utilities to move drive images around, but I dont understand your specific situation enough to really help you.

I am going out on a limb here and suggest that you take it to a trained computer professional and have them do whatever it is you want done. Yeah, it will cost you a few bucks, but my experience with computer repair and heating repair is that after the customer gets done "fixing" it, they pay more to get it "unfixed" than they would if they had taken it to a pro the first time. I am not against people trying, but if you don't know what you are doing, don't attempt it.

Gauge there's no need to pay a proessional just to do a simple restore. They'd cost you a rediculous amount to look at it just to do something you can do right on your own pc, and very easily. Plus the cost of gas to get across town and back is an un nessisary waste of money.

Restores are not difficult. Nor dangerous, you don't need to pay professionals to perform a system feature, you do however have to know how to exicute the command 4 the drive to restore lol.

Mod1, it's a system restore lol when you do a system restore it, well restores the system to a previous "check point" It's ment as a saftey to undue any harmfull changes you may have done, say like deleted a nessisary file to run. but you can also use to restore preferances.I'm hoping to restore the slave drive, because I messed up some files . Slave drives are a secondary hard drive in the same tower, axcessable by the same pc. You go into Computer and it says C drive And E drive. you wanna fillde with the "slave" you select E you want your main drive you select C

@ Feline. I think you can do it but will know for sure in a few minutes or maybe more...

Before You Try System Restore

System Restore should only be used after trying less comprehensive methods of troubleshooting. System Restore changes many files and registry entries, and in some cases might replace more files than you want restored. So when I first run into a computer problem, I reboot my computer. I'm still amazed at how often a problem is solved by using this simple technique. Or, if your computer won't start in normal mode, reboot your computer, press F8 during the boot process, use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

Its one method but still waiting on a reply about system restore. Personnally I dont like it...

If you are trying to access files that were originally in your "My Documents" folder, you might just need to turn off simple file sharing and take ownership of the folder. I can't see any reason to do a system restore if your current C drive has a functioning operating system on it, and all you really need is to access files.

What exactly did you move? Something sys 32 or a File?

I moved file folders like digital pictures and my pictures and pictures of sparky. then tried to move them back and they apear to be hidden cause if you do a search they show up but not till then:((

search for them, right click on them and open the folder for where they are. Then move them again. Or make sure you got Show hidden folders turned off.

I can find some of them by doing a search yes, but it's like say the files were playing red rover red rover send file right over lol, So files a b c and D went over, and when it was their turn to get sent back, where's they get sent to, if not the folder they belonged in. their folders there but empty.
