If I have been asked by you to provide cites on vellum of tigers hide, then I expect payment in kind, unless you are willing to stipulate that republicans are bathroom cocksuckers, I believe I have a cite or two for that.

I see the syllogism you are trying to set up, but do not believe it to be mainstream (in fact, beneath the radar) and am unaware that it has the power of a premise.

I am willing to be wrong, but frankly I do not think it is as widely a held view as that of republicans being closeted homosexuals.

Another  weak premise based on anecdotal evidence, in my estimation.

Sorry, that's the way I play, nip it in the bud.........

Sanity, starting to get a little desperate? Which candidate do you back? Huckabee? Worried that an the GOP's politics of fear might noit carry teh day over a campaign of hope and a candidate who desires to restore the freedoms the GOP has been busy stomping on these past 6+ years?

What's so damn sad is this is entirely predictable. Rove or whoever started the Obama is muslim emails. So Obama clarifies the situation by making clear he is a christian and a church goer from long before he got interested in politics, unlike the born episcopal GWB who converted to UM, a much more acceptable faith in rural Texas, right before he first ran for office. So now Obama will be portrayed as a religious nut by other GOP scum knowing that Obama - Huckabee is a race they likely won't win but Clinton - Huckabee is one they might win. I'm just glad it is this same old tired innuendo crap they've tried so many times before. I'm guessing most voters know this stuff is all crap and snopes.com and other site swill put up nice simple explanations of the truth of the claims so as to give people an easy place to go to get the truth.

Sanity -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 3:13:07 PM)

You think it's a conspiracy that made Obama say he's a Christian today?

No, DomKen, so sorry, I'm not desperate. I just think it's funny the way the left endlessly bashes Republican candidates who admit to any sort of faith and then will come out of the woodwork  like so many fire ants in support of one so long as he has a D by their name.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm no Christian, but one doesn't don't have to be to see the humor in all of this!

It's funny, and I'm pointing out the joke for anyone who can see it.

That's all.

i admit to being clueless when it comes to politics but isn't this how the modern game is played? each side uses the other as a whipping boy on one topic or another?

There are many ways to praise Jesus, Sanity.  There is Sunday morning rejoicing in salvation, and trying your best to walk as Jesus would have, and then there is Sunday morning condemning the sinners to Hell, and doing your best to set the stage for Revelation, so you can watch them fry after you get raptured.

I haven't heard him say we need to amend the Constitution to bring into line with (what Baptist's think) the Bible says.  Barry needed to answer the 'Muslim' attack, I think he handled it well.

Sanity -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 3:59:16 PM)

I don't begrudge the man his religion, Rich. To each his own.

My point is more, there are many here who openly say they are disgusted by anyone who is the least bit religious who I'm pretty sure will be perfectly willing to look the other way in Obama's case.

To say it's the degree of religion seems to be a cop out. No one is calling for a strict state religion, or banning abortion, or imprisoning gays or what-have-you. It's all about their personal faith. Bush says he's guided by Jesus, and that's bad. Obama is religious, so what.

It's hypocrisy.

I don't care either way, I'd vote for an Atheist or a Christian, even a Muslim. No big deal. But I like consistency, and when that's lacking I'll poke it with a stick and maybe even piss on it. Unless it's on fire, of course...

TheHeretic -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 4:11:03 PM)

That's a recurring problem for the left, Sanity.  They see a chance to attack someone for something, but they usually take it too far, insisting some great 'value' has deen desecrated.  Then it turns around and bites them in the ass when one of their own violates the newly minted absolute rule of behavior.

     Funny, really.

Sanity -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 4:33:38 PM)

Does this qualify as "Hijacked Thread" I wonder?

Moving it to polls, when it isn't any kind of a poll at all...

Don't take it personally, Sanity.  It might have simply been decided we were over the political content quota, upstairs.

It's kinda nice down really.  There are even places where hijacking is encouraged.

Must be a Free Speech Coalition membership requirement somehow. Can't have too much political discussion, or something.

PrizedPosession -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 6:14:33 PM)

Personally this is the first time he has mentioned it because of all the conspiracies that say he is a Muslim. If i was being announced as something and i wasn't i would give an example of why i am not. That is what this is.
And not all liberals bash on the republicans for being religious. It's when they state they will change things based on it that gets people in an uproar because it is unfair. Barak said that he went to church, not that it is mandatory. That is the difference.

But that's just me.

bipolarber -> RE: Obama Too Much Of A Religious Nut? (2/2/2008 7:40:03 PM)

It seems to me that there's a huge difference between saying that you've been praising Jesus for the last 20 years... and saying that Jesus speaks to you and wants you to invade muslim countries with the specific intent to convert them to your religion... (as we have with the current "religious nut" in office.)

Just sayin'...
