Wish I could but I will be on the left coast from the 30th till the 6th and away the first week of Sept as well.
Where are you getting together?

That picture is mind blowing! How long have you been dancing for?

Well...hopefully this will be the first of many!

I have been taking ballroom and ballet for 6 years. Started when I was 28. Won a world championship in 2002. (I am actually a world champion exhibitionist, as the official title is 2002 World Open Exhibition Championship). I retired from active competition last year, but I still teach advanced technique classes. and I dance at least 3 times a week.

Yours,
Taggard

P.S. here is one more pic...taken when I was invited to compete at Blackpool:

anthro, very true. Music, any music, formal or the sounds of nature around us, needs to touch the heart. Be safe, Tess

Sundew02 -> RE: the dance (7/12/2004 10:19:00 AM)

Sinergy, I say this with a twinkle in my eyes. To say I have the ability to follow the beat is true, to say that I can do any of the dance steps the others have listed, is false. Watching well trained dancers following the intricate steps of an accepted dance is to enjoy visual music. What I do is imitate the sounds I hear. I enjoy it and make no apology for my untutored style. I melt into the sounds, the joy of celibrating music and very true I do not think, I feel.
I agree with you that D/s touch is a dance, but I would add the sounds make it so much more, the sensual music of the scene that draws us deeper into the excitement and freedom of our lifestyle. Sundew

Sinergy -> RE: the dance (7/12/2004 11:07:02 AM)

sundew02,

To say that I follow the beat would be false. I am forever getting my feet backwards, missing the rock step, or leading my partner into a turn at the wrong point.

To say that I know what I am doing would also be false. But I am trying to relearn a former love and will someday know what I am doing, deo volente.

But, I hide it rather well, and when I am out on the dance floor with a partner I mesh with all of reality melts away and there is just she and I and it is magic.

This is not really a troll, but if anybody from these boards makes it out to this neck of the woods, look me up and you can come watch me make a fool out of myself.

Sinergy

Sundew02 -> RE: the dance (7/12/2004 11:48:16 AM)

Smile, well thank you for the invitation. But I am heading south to New Orleans in a bit, and I do not see me winging my way to the left coast anytime soon. I hope you enjoy and sparkle with the joy each time you "make a fool" of your self. Wicked laugh, ah the fun of being free to "dance" no matter what the tune. Tess

In ballet, the structure, the unconditionally obedience to the Ballet Master, and the dedication required have remarkable echoes in the kind of D/s I personally like to practice.

You have just brought up memories of my Sadistic russian ballet instructor of 15 years. She used to whack our asses with her cane as she walked by if our back was not properly arched.

But I think that there is a lot also to be said about self discipline in ballet, dance or anything you want to excel in. And I've always thought the best people, regardless of their kink, are the ones who have mastered self-discipline.

LMAO now you reminded me of my second ballet instructor. I took ballet as a kid from about the time I was 6 to about 14 and when we just started to learn pointe she would grab our feet and I swear she was trying to break them or something. This nasty nasty woman who must have been about 5'10 and all of 90 lbs with this heavy Russian accent. She used to wear these long fur coats when you would see her outside, and she never pronounced my name correctly. If she was able to smack us with a cane she probably would have lol.

I think I was traumatized by her as a child.

Let's make the July 31st dinner in a place with a dance floor. I promise to take it easy on your ankle. *smile*

Yours,
Taggard

Actually it's my big toe. Which would be funny, if they hadn't cut the bone in half.

It will be 10 1/2 weeks since surgery when I return. You find a dance floor and you are on.

See the new thread in the Events forum for the "Dinner & Dungeon" outing to post any suggestions for dinner please.

I love watching Argentine tango. I have wanted to learn it for quite a while now and just never seem to make the time for it.

BTW: Beautiful pics, Bailey.

Make the time. It's like verticle sex when done right. :-)

And thank you.

--bailey

p.s. my dancing career started with Contra Dancing too :-)

Maybe I will do something like the attached photo with you...and, yes, that is me...*smile*

So, you dance theater arts. Beautiful art and hard work.

Something I never thought to find in this community.

Thanks! It was one of my goals when I started and we did it in our second year of comeptition. The invite is framed and hangs in my trophy room.

I think I'd like to learn how to dance! Thanks for the great thread.

Vendaval -> RE: the dance (9/12/2006 12:45:06 AM)

One of my dance instructors had a great quote, -
"The best dance teacher is a combination of a
drill instructor and your fairy godmother".

I also recall the visualization we used to stand straight
and hold our torsos up high, "a meat hook hanging
from the ceiling by a chain, pulling your chest up
from the bottom of the rib-cage".

  Ouch!  [sm=hair.gif]

PS - I have some long term emotional trauma from
a few choir and vocal instructors!

switchmt -> RE: the dance (9/12/2006 2:01:49 AM)

I found a beginner's course already :) It's also a good way to meet new people, I think..
