I prefer M'Lady but only from my sub.
Ma'am if it is any other relationship/aquaintance.
My given name the majority of the time from my sub out in public.

Lets see.... an auction at the Holiday Inn in early November {shortly after your Birthday} and a show in NYC, with a short drive to Boston right before Thanksgiving - But the one I really can't miss is a jaunt to Vancouver a few days after Christmas - Dynamite? Dangerous? - Yes that's an understatement. LMAO!!

You remembered! *blushes* Ladies, this poor boy is going to be crazy. Perhaps we should all get together and help him save some gasoline? Wouldnt that be fun!

Weren't you and I speaking the other day about a wek in the sun for some of the Ladies? We could all consolidate, smiles.....

I know "Mistress" is sort of the standard...I've heard "Lady" (which I hate) and "Princess"....ehh....not really the title for me.

Well obviously I don't hate Lady. ;-) Too each her own.

If a guy approaches me as Mistress, it's a huge turn off. That they would hand such an intimate title over to anyone sends off warning signals for me. I have had my fair share of men and women submitting to me but I've only allowed 2 to call me Mistress... well one was Mistress and the other was MaƮtresse. That is because our relationship got that deep. The others all called me Miss or Mademoiselle or my own name. The important part was that it felt natural and not contrived.

Oddly enough, my last boy most often called me "ma puce" which directly translated in English is "my flea" which, though a term of endearment in French, not a very dommely nickname! But I adored it everytime he called me that. It was definitely endearing and sweet.

No worries

LadyJC -> RE: a rose is a rose is a rose....or...? (9/11/2005 6:58:44 AM)

Ma'am makes me feel too old, Mistress makes me feel like I'm sleeping with some married guy. I stick with My Lady or Miss and that's only in play. The rest of the time I prefer to be called by my own name unless in a very serious relationship.

It shouldn't make you old. When I was in 7th grade, I used to call one of the teachers "ma'am" all the time. She was 24, right out of college, wore those painted-on Jordache jeans, and well, those newly discovered funny feelings she gave me ever time I saw her walk towards me or walk away. They were a lot like those funny feelings I got watching Wonder Woman(and I think I would have had no problem calling Linda Carter "ma'am" too.)

I always say Ma'am is for a little old blue haired lady or a southern belle, neither of which I am ;-)

Gonna be a butthead for a second here.

The quote is "Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose." From "Sacred Emily" By Gertrude Stein.

'pologize, but I wrote a term paper on it a year or so ago, and adding a first "a" changes everything

Sylverdawn -> RE: a rose is a rose is a rose....or...? (9/12/2005 6:52:41 AM)

Personally, I go by my Dawn.... but I dont mind, Ma'am. or Ms. Mistress was for the right boy.. Madam is fine .. I loathe Goddess and Lady... yet adore Domina that's my personal choice.

When I get called "ma'am" I always think of the old western movies with 50+ year old maiden Schoolmarm ... never the ones where the School teacher was young and pretty ...

Maybe it's a generational thing........... or regional......... I will take ma'am over most other options.

I personally am not into the whole D/s thing, being a "mere" aspiring bondage top. But if I had to pick a form of address that wasn't my name, the most charming I've seen used is "Boss".

For general reference, if the generic Dom or top isn't sufficient, I prefer femdom or Domina to either Domme or Mistress.

Don't know why, but I sorta like that...."Boss!" [:)] Seems I recall a few movies with others using that, and found it sometimes said with humor, as well as sarcasm. A bit of both in me!

K

PS Hmmmm...would that be "Boss"....or just "BossY" [:D]

pinkvelvet -> RE: a rose is a rose is a rose....or...? (9/14/2005 5:14:09 PM)

*haha!* no problem, angelic....being an editor myself, I completely understand. I'm not familiar with that original quote, but was remembering Juliet's monologue in Romeo & Juliet...*heh*

If someone calls me "Ma'am" I usually reply with,
"It's Miss, not Ma'am." *haha!*

I like plain ol' "Miss", too, in lieu of 'Mistress'

PetTeacher -> RE: a rose is a rose is a rose....or...? (9/15/2005 3:01:31 PM)

A rose is a rose is a rose, but how you say r O s e in a sweet voice makes the difference to me. I like to hear my name from a man with a deep voice say it slowly.

When I was first introduced to the lifestyle I enjoyed being called mistress, but have grown out of it. I agree with another writer, a Mistress is often seen as the "other woman" and I don't enjoy taking the back seat on that one.
