daddyncherry -> Working outr and subspace (2/5/2008 12:08:33 PM)

So i have heard people occasionally speak of how the endorphin rush that one gets from impact play is not too dissimilar to what athletes get from working out, running etc

So i wondered do people who work out regularly have an easier or more difficult time reaching subspace? Do they become more adjusted to those higher endorphins and have more difficulty, or do they flow into it easier? Or would it make a difference at all?

Logically it would follow that it would be easier.  There bodies are more used to the pain so the body responds quicker.

BUT....  Different kinds of pain do different kinds of things.  Most atheletes experience deep muscular and tendon pain.  Impact S&M types go for the skin pain.

I work out daily; 7 days a week; various martial arts and running. I don't get no endorphine rush lol...just a lot of pain, sweat, and sore muscles [8D]

As for subspace...I don't even try to reach that plateau anymore; it's pretty useless to me. I WANT to feel the pure pain of blows; I don't want to go somewhere where I am dissassociated with feelings.

I haven't found it to be easier to reach subspace.  But I also don't feel like the endorphin rush I get from working out is remotely similar to the endorphin rush from SM.

C~

Edited to add: for me subspace is a feeling of burrowing inside of my owner, I don't feel dissassociated from him or what he's doing for me.  And a straight SM endorphin rush (the only time I felt it was when he branded me) felt like a high like you'd get from drugs.  Also not remotely similar to how I feel when I'm working out (more a wosh of energy and happiness).

Thanks for your replies so far.

See i don't usually (almost never) reach subspace....i endure alot of pain, but subspace thus far with my Daddy doesn't seem to be an objective....i have reached subspace a few times in the past with an ex but that is it.

When i work out i do get that head rush feeling, my eyes get a bit glazed and i am not totally "there" when i'm done with a really intense workout...so the endorphin rush there works...not to the same extent as it did when i reached subspace in the past, but still.

So it was just something i questioned while i was working out this morning and getting that "rush"....like hmmmm....i get it here, but not during intense impact play....i wonder if there is any connection???

Working out on a regular basis, gives me time to focus on my "to do list" for home & work.  When I'm working out I'm focused on obtaining goals...cardio for so many minutes, how many reps I'm doing per muscle group...I'm always focused on the details.  Afterwards, I always get a great energized feeling, not a high, but really buzzed and focused.

When I play with Sir, there is only one thing I focus on...breathing and his voice and touch.  My mind is quiet and it's all about sensations, and not processing about them when they happen, I just breathe and experience...then I'm off floating...I will admit that at times it is very hard to quiet the mind and just focus on the breathing...until I'm able to do that...no sub-space for me. :(

As noted, it really depends on whether the endorphin rushes are similar.  There are a million forms of "subspace" and it can take a million ways to get there.  I don't get into subspace from endorphins at all, so it's nothing the same for me.

i forgot about that, that there are other ways to get there....maybe that is why i don't go there....because for me it isn't about the endorphins it is about the mental and verbal and i don't get that.
