Status: offline 		When being gagged nonstop for long time > 8 hrs, the gag (we usually use inflatable gags with or without breathing tube) starts to put a strain on the front teeth upper teeth.

I recently though of using a tooth guard (sports)  to try to overcome this problem.  Some BDSM/bondage vendors even make gags made of the tooth guards fastened on leather straps (www.leathercreations.com).

Has anyone tried this or solved the problem otherwise?  Is I'm the only one with big front teeth and there fore the only lonely one suffering from this?

Status: offline 		I love gags but i really don't think gagging someone that long is very safe and without a breathing tube besides??I hope your Mistress understands that if something fatal were to happen she could be brought up on murder charges.

Ball gags go in the mouth and as I recall we have a nose to breath wilth, Plus you can still get air thon your mouth and even talk(in a very muffled and weird way)through one.

Status: offline 		Ever take a breath through your mouth once in awhile???There is a physiological reason for that and i talked with a Breathplay expert...very long duration gagging is not cool...but go ahead if that is what you feel.

or if you have to gag someone that long, maybe you don't need a better gag but a better slave.

I am hoping the tooth guard will relive the pressure o the front teeth so a special dental, Otho plan is not needed.   I strife all the time to be as a good sub/slave for her as I can. 

The gagging is simply a part of longterm bondage that we both love.  I have already been gagged for 24 hours nonstop and I have most certainly expressed willingness to endure a whole weekend if she would choose to do so.

Status: offline 		My obvious reply would be, find a different method of gagging that doesn't allow you to put pressure on the teeth. Or alternatively switch to a partial hood that muffles the mouth for your long period sessions.

For the longest sessions we use a inflatable gag with a breathing tube.  And we both know the risks we take.

Status: offline 		I have used mouth gaurds with gags.  It can add to the comfort and also enhances the gag.  The down side is that i meem to salavate a lot more.

Status: offline 		I can't say I've run into exactly *that* problem, but on occasion my sub has chafed quite a bit after wearing a gag (a ball gag, actually), and that was only around 30 minutes of wear.

I've thought about getting something that fits the contours of the individual mouth, but I guess that would have to be a custom job.


And yes...it's supposed to suck, a little.  :)

Status: offline 		Just wondering sweetheart, did you ever have braces or were diagnosed with TMJ? (aka you clench your jaw in your sleep and unconciously through out the day) If you do I suggest useing silk gags or something soft, like...eh those sport mouth gard thingies or the mouth gards for teeth grinders to use in there sleep, and you can connect that to the gag and it would work right? I never really did any "hard" play with gags, just a nice bit of silk when Sir thinks Im getting too loud.

Seriously, for that long, try a mask,  a muffle outside of the mouth or gaffer's tape ( not to be confused, as many do, with duct tape. The adhesive in gaffer's tape is a  synthetic rubber which leaves little or no residue when removed.. Duct tape leaves a residue when removed. Unless, of course, you like that effect).

Unless the mouth is sealed shut, I've always been able to suck in air around the gag if my sinuses were congested.

Having worn a gag for 4 hours yesterday and almost the same today, it hasn't been an issue for me, but I can see where the jaw gets tired and the teeth come to rest on the inserted object (in my case a penis gag...poor penis).

Muffle gags with tape (does that seal the area?) concern me re: breathing purposes. I'm wondering if a smaller ball gag would work (I've seen large, med, small) so as not to put so much pressure on the teeth or jaw...

Status: offline 		Gags seem to work great for us in long intervals as long as there is an alarm sound within my reach and serious consequences for activating it. The repercussions of activation most commonly are being subjected to a severe whipping or some other serious form of discipline but it is definitely an "out" if i am having serious panic or breathing issues. i am not a pain slut so i do my best to stay gagged an accept this restriction.

Isn't that like you being punished for safewording? And isn't being punished for safewording a really bad idea on the part of a dominant? I mean...the safeword is put into place for a reason. Discouraging a sub to use a safeword to tell a dominant when something was going wrong makes the safeword somewhat useless. And playing without a safeword is typically a bad idea (yes, I know opinions differ on this).
 
Maybe I'm reading this wrong and the alarm sound isn't like a safeword. But if it is...you might want to be wary there.

Status: offline 		I have also had the issue of my front teeth becoming sore with longer term use of a gag.  I have no solution to the issue but will listen to all you knowlegable people out there.

I like using gags, but as a Master once told me, He did not like using them too much, especially longer term and when he was not specifically watching (or there was an alarm I could use) because it isn't just breathing that can be an issue. The sub might take a reaction to a scene or become sick.  Even the use of ball gags with holes, and muffle gags, vomit could not get past the gag quick or effectively enough and could choke the sub.  He cautioned very highly on never using anything that blocks the mouth that cannot be taken off quickly, including hoods, especially hoods as there is less to see the sub's reactions on.

Im sure I am preaching to the converted, but I figured I would pass on what little I know.  I understand that someone using gags so often would likely not have commonly issues with gag-reflex, but in a scene (or even in sleep) unexpected reactions can happen.

In terms of the use of alarms when gags are used, I am a firm believer in them, whether it is the sub clenching or unclenching a fist for the Dom to see, or a jingle ball or other noise that would alert the Dom.  A couple that are used to playing with each other may have a better idea of signs of discomfort that such an obvious thing as a jingleball might not be needed, but it is a good way to start certainly, especially when using gags when safewords are not an option.

Status: offline 		Not murder--you have to prove intent to convict someone of murder.  But it would still be a messy legal situation for your mistress.  No doubt about that.

Status: offline 		I love how judgemental everyone is being about safety, without having even the slightest idea about the individual in question.

I know them both, and know to what lengths they go to stay on top of the risks they take. Yea, it can be extreme, but don't assume for a second they don't know that.
