1.  Dueling to the death should be legal.  And encouraged for bad manners and poor hygiene.

No disagreement at all.  It's certainly anyone's right to walk around with bad hygiene and manners.

I just think anyone that you offend should have the right to challenge you to a duel.

Wouldn't take long before everyone was polite - and clean - as could be!

Firm

PS.  Wouldn't you like to challenge that gal at the DMV to "take it outside at 40 paces", when she smarted off to you, or ignored you for an hour?

How about that punk in the store that sits and chats on her phone while you stand waiting for service?

I think the U.S. should have compulsory military service.

I will argue against that until the end of time. Compulsory military service makes for lots of cannon fodder, but makes for less than ideal soldiers.

Yeah, but if Mad Dog McCain gets in we'll need a draft to fight Iran and Syria!
And probably a few others!

All the more reason NOT to draft.  No soldiers == no war.

No wouldn't care to duel, but maybe I could demand her paycheck be given to me for making me wait while she chatted with friends, much much more lucrative:D

You should have the right to take her phone away, and, with her bf still on the phone, take her britches down and spank her ass to a bright red.

What are some of yours?

Controversial by what yardstick?

I have yet to encounter more than a handful of people who don't consider any of my opinions highly controversial by their own standards, and that handful is probably just because I haven't gone very far in covering some of the more controversial ones. If we go by a common yardstick of prevailing Western schools of thought, the question is: do I have any opinions that are uncontroversial?

Some of the more obvious ones include the idea that any morality is equally valid, and that evil can only exist in the presence of good, or that both of those are useless concepts if not outright damaging. The idea that consent is rather irrelevant doesn't tend to go down well in BDSM communities. The idea that Saul of Tarsus was the closest thing to an antichrist the world has seen doesn't sit well with most Christians. The idea that Communism and Fascism are the same point on a circle, approached clockwise and counterclockwise respectively doesn't sit well with politicians. The idea that jungle law is the only law doesn't sit well with those who think otherwise. That SSRIs are useless isn't particularly welcomed by psychiatrists. The idea that psychology is a field devoid of content doesn't sit well with psychologists. The notion that patterns are a sign of using the wrong tool for the job isn't well thought of among programmers. That culture and morality are basically the same as language doesn't go over well with cognitive scientists. That the universe may be a MMORPG for our souls isn't well thought of by physicists. That hitting someone mandates a willingness to kill them doesn't go down well with most people. That people are not entitled to liberty doesn't seem to sit well with just about anyone. That bacteria have the same value and claim to life as humans isn't usually considered kosher, either.

We could try to examine less obvious ones, or even more obvious ones, but I think the TOS would prohibit most of the best examples.

Health,
al-Aswad.

All rapists and child molesters(male and female) should have their sexual organs and their hands removed

All males should have vasectomies until they can prove that they are willing to take emotional and physical reponsibility for a child along with the mother.

I should be allowed to walk around with a cattle prod, zapping stupid people with gay abandon(in the old sense of the word)
Hmmm Im sure there will be more,
Lucy

People who abuses animals children and the elderly should be subject to public humiliation and punishment before being hauled off to the dessert, covered with honey and left staked out by several ant hills

narcotics should be legal, taxed and heavily regulated

People should mind their own business when it comes to smokers

From the age of 11 children who commit crimes ( beatimg  deer to death on a baseball field, slinging bags filled with crap, etc) should be treated as adults. No slaps on the wrists and no minor penalties.

Pro lifers and the Anti Gay movement should be more worried about what goes on in their own lives

The men on Craigslist who say all women are whores should have to share those feelings with thier mothers, aunts, nieces, sisters, etc and then take the ensuing ass beating like a man.

many other countries have compulsory military service (Israel comes to mind).. they don't seem to be having a problem with half-hearted service.

Mine does. The army surrendered when the Germans invaded. A buddy removed the pin on a live grenade and dropped it to see how the sarge would react. Women enlist to get laid (with a few exceptions). People give 8 decimal point GPS positions to military assets over unsecure lines. The leader of the army forgets to bring his ID badge to maximum security facilities, and doesn't get called on it. Most people think of it as a way to give the kids a year away from home. It. Isn't. Working. Very. Well. At. All.

Health,
al-Aswad.
