Yahoo and MSN have free video/voice chat as well.

an excellent post op and will answer a lot of questions for many. we were online for about 9 months till i moved to master, we also used secondlife and having ok i know its only an avatar but to 'see' each other as well was really important and there are things to do places to visit when my daughter was at her dads and he wasn't working we would spend nearly all day together there we had a 'tv' that could play films etc in the land that we owned in secondlife and it was wonderful some evenings to watch it and see us in each others arms and know we were both seeing the same thing and could talk about it and discuss etc was wonderful . we also used texting a lot and every night a very quick phone call when we were in bed just to say night made a huge difference. he gave me a cuddly toy when if first visited him (it was one that was his ) and it was great to have part of him physically with me. the most important thing we found was trust and we trusted each other fully. he knew i would do as he asked etc and i knew he would never ask anything of me that would put me in difficulty being at a distance, i also knew if i needed to talk or had any problems of any sort i could just talk to him. he is not into journals but i had protocols to follow and as we 'saw' each other everyday in sl there really was no need as i could tell him.

I will participate in this thread because I do endorse online domination. Also for another reason apart from the ones that you have mentioned AAkasha......it is good for the beginners......when I first found out from the internet that I was a subby and started exploring that side of myself, online domination taught me a hell of a lot, it eventually gave me the confidence to want to try out bdsm in the real world.....looking back now on what I did, its pretty much of a giggle and pales in comparrison to what real bdsm is all about but it was a gentle way to introduce me to this wonderful world.

Back when we were ldr, we used chat mostly. We were both in areas with poor cell phone coverage, his kept switching states and my county at that point didn't have a digital tower. We mainly just tried to talk about all the minutiae of the day. Because if what's on your mind is the weird noise the car is making, then that is what is important to you at that moment. If it hadn't been of any importance to him, I would have had to wonder how important I was to him. We talked about each other's day and the plans for the next day so we knew what to ask about.
