One of my new pet projects is to hopefully produce a femdom movie in Q4 2008 or early 2009. I've been talking to filmmakers and producers in the gay male bdsm world as part of my research (because in my opinion, they "do bottoms" better than het femdom producers do) and have some interesting ideas and thoughts. I'm curious what femdoms would like to see in a bdsm film? What do you feel is missing from het bdsm films? Remember, the quality and style is still limited, it's still going to be simply a bdsm film - which means thin on plot and acting ability, thin on sets and backdrops, and ultimately the focus is still on the kinky acts. Also, no intercourse + bondage. It's going to be straight S&M topping/bottoming. I'm also curious if male submissives (who watch bdsm porn) would be put off, less interested in a bdsm film that had a shared focus on the male sub; in other words, instead of the focus being primarily on the femdom, the film also spends a great deal of time on the man and his reactions. More than one producer of gay bdsm told me that in het porn, directors cast forgetable men out of jealous and insecurity and the false idea that their audience (sub men) don't want to see an attractive, charismatic man in the bottom role. Does anyone believe that? What would ideal femdom porn look like to femdoms? Akasha

I've given this a bit of thought, if only from the artistic point of view. I cannot tell you how straight submissive men feel about "pretty" men on screen, but I like them. 'Cause they're pretty. [:D] Men who are open to some gender-play in their porn definitely seem to appreciate feminization that is believable, though--i.e., a t-girl who is facially pretty and well-dressed. I think submissive men viewing this porn would probably accept an idealized man just as easily as women who view dominant male porn accept an idealized woman... Just on the technical side of things, I would point out that "het femdom porn" tends to be directed and shot by "het dominant males", so I would look at their stylistic elements and casting choices carefully before I imitated them at all. Their aproach to the dominant woman, the way the camera views the submissive man and his torment, and the tendency to express hostility in casting "unattractive" sub males for their roles---might all just be subconscious hostility expressed through their art. I can also tell you from my survey of BDSM photography that a lot of the point-of-view elements in the final product are going to depend on who was on set and who had control over the camera. Men and women shoot all subjects, but in particular male subjects, in very different ways--even if both photographers have a dominant eye, a woman picks angles, subjects, and approaches to the body differently than a man does. If the subject being photographed is a straight male model, the difference in the energy of the photos is absolutely night and day. I've looked over a model's portfolio more than once and instantly picked out every single shot which was done by a professional gay male BDSM photographer for a gay male BDSM audience--good photography, nothing wrong with the technique, but the agenda and the point of view was written all over every shot. Whereas the energy that flooded out of the badly-lit kinky snapshot taken by his femdom girlfriend was about a million times hotter--the man himself was actually present in that photo, posing to please her...and as the photographer, the woman was present also. I think it's a great idea, and something I'd whole-heartedly be interested in viewing/purchasing. One of my main complaints about "mainstream" Femdom porn is that it's so damn hard to put myself in the place of the sub. I like to transport myself into the fictional media I take in, and it's hard to imagine myself as some unattractive, seemingly uninterested schlub, or conversely, a schlub who's acting is something akin to what you'd see in a high school play. This is why I like sites like Men In Pain (I know, not exactly the greatest champion of female-led pornography) and have started to develop an interest in lesbian BDSM pornography. The submissives emote, they react, they're present. It doesn't feel like they're just blank bodies. Another reason I'm starting to dig lesbian BDSM porn is that more often than in het Femdom porn, there's a sense of genuine fun and affection between the two players. It doesn't feel as cold and mean-spirited. My only slight quibble is the gay male subs...There's plenty of other het boys who would just die for the chance to be in a film like what you're describing. I'm writing a resume as we speak. [;)]

InsexM made a pretty good pass at the more sub-focused video, using the same style as their M/f site (the Top was often completely off-screen)... i have the idea that it wasn't as successful as they'd hoped, and the site had suspended operations even before they sold off the whole enterprise, but i could be wrong on that...

I'm a guy, and only bottom when I want to. But based on conversations over the years, and demands/requests my cough friends keep making, thinking one day I'll change my mind, I'd suggest: 1. nonsexual actual service, like a for-real massage done by a man who actually knows how to massage. 2. forced m/m bi (no sissy garb involved). 3. emphasis on the emotional moments of actual submission - the guy realizes he isn't going to like it and does it anyway. Another great thread from Aakasha! My heart is pounding and my imagination is running. As a reminder, I have no real direct experience with "the lifestyle." Regarding Femdom Porn, I can speak with somewhat greater authority. Seeing more from the male sub point of view (not just POV) would be awesome. I'd like to see the sub struggling with a decision to comply with some requirment made by his Dom. I'd like to see a sub dealing with the fear and confusion of following ambiguous instructions or perhaps the STRICT requirment to comply with two tasks / demands that might be mutually exclusive. Oh my God; I must do both of these things but it is only possible to do one of these things. Or neither. She is going to be so mad. I am so screwed. What do I do? Or the confusion of the sub that complies to the Nth degree some odious task, but not in quite the right way or not with the right attitude, and so get's punished anyway. Or complies only to find the objective of the task was to further his entrapment / discomfort. "Fetch me a bucket, and your nipple clips and turn on the hose. Never you mind what for." There could be some awesome Femdom with no Femdom on the screen while the sub figures out some puzzle left for him by his femdom, so yeah, focus on the bottom would be OK. Focus on kinky acts? I can see that. But more than that I'm facinated by some of the accouterments and the application thereof. So there's a scene, and then there's a cut, and now the sub has something in his mouth. What is that thing? How did it get there? How does it work? I may be subbish but I'm still a guy and I want to know that that thing is and how it works. If I'm over at a neighborhood gathering and one of those things pops out of someone's mouth and they're like, "Hey can you help me out?" and I'm like "I saw one of these things in a movie once but I've got no idea how it works." I'm going to look like an idiot. I've never held an M1 Garand but I've watched enough WWII movies that I'm certain I could field strip and assemble one AND take the Bridge Too Far, should the occasion require. Movies should be both entertaining and instructional. So I think you could do a whole thing out of implementing a thing, a gag, for instance. Or a butt plug or anything in between. Slowly. Up close. Red nails against black leather against white skin, real slow....what was I saying? As to attractive men being offputting, if the guy looks like a professional body builder, pumped up and oiled and muscles just cut like crystal, yeah...that distracts from the narrative and puts the focus on that persons abs. And I cannot easily identify with such a person. If he's fit, outgoing, etc. That's OK. Mr. Universe? Not so much. Just one person's opinion, not that I really watch much Femdom porn. :-P TnC

Speaking as a male sub, Akasha, I think a film that focuses on the submissive would actually be an improvement. Most of the porn I watch, I tend to relate to the sub or bottom in the clip far more than I do the Dom(me). And somehow, I think a dominant would actually become more powerful, the less actual screen time they get. (hey, it works for monsters in horror movies!) No, what I've always felt was missing was context. What brought these people together? What does this experience mean to each of them? So much porn is really just about the "mechanics." It gets a bit dull, if you ask me. I want scenes where, as an audiance, I have a full blown fantasy happening in front of me. 70's and 80's porn was getting good at this, just before the video "revolution" caused the quality of storytelling to crash through the floor. Have you ever seen a comic book series called "Xxxenophile?" God, how I wish someone would do stories like THAT on video! Not so much all the sets and effects it would take, as much as the way the characters interact. (Google: Phil Foglio) Funny, isn't it? So many XXX titles come and go, and no one ever remembers them. But, you can still talk about movies like "Behind the Green Door" or "Deep Throat" or "Debbie Does Dallas" almost 30 years down the road. And those titles are still in print, and still generating income for someone.

There was a six minute clip on Youtube last year, open for submissions or something close to that. It showed a mock interview with a domme and sub couple. It was funny but I thought well done and interesting. I do not see any real Femdom movies and except for late night cable tv don't see porn that often. It would depend on the type of story you are telling. Are you just telling a story about a couple, how they met or is there another story line like action, detective or sci fi, western? To me the possibilities are unlimited but the real stuff I would like to see would be a guy who is submissive finding his domme either she already is a dominant or becomes one. I would like to see some FD elements in the story so it makes sense too but also have regular people like an accountant, teacher, computer programmer, secretary, nurse or executive by day and at night a different dynamic goes on. I have thought about stories I like and tried to write a few since I tend not to find what I am looking for on the web but I am not a romance writer and cannot write dialog that well or the everyday situations people are in. I think the people should be attractive but not unrealisticly so. If I was writing it would be more like a romance story. Maybe the woman meets the man from an ex dominant girlfriend or a woman friend who knows he is submissive, sort of like a gay guy who is in the closet has a confidant. Another idea is through personals but I don't think it is realistic that they would meet at work although many good x rated movies have people in normal situations going from one sex scene to another after you walk in the door. If you want to skip the romance part then just put them together and tell their story you could show them both normal at first then go to their private life but I think there would be a problem keeping it interesting while you introduce them to the audience. What would be interesting is what the woman is like in real life and since she has the "power" how she interacts with the submissive in private and why she is attracted to him. If you want more ideas I would be happy to give them to you.

To be totally, honest, I have to say that I don't think I'd be very interested in Femdom porn that focused on the male sub, instead of the female Domme. Men tend to be visual, particularly when watching porn. I'm attracted to the powerful aspects of the dominant female-- that's what I'd want to see. There's probably a reason that the majority of Femdom porn has chosen to focus on the women, and not the men-- at least when the majority of paying customers have traditionally been men. I think your question is intelligently directed at the Dommes themselves-- perhaps they'd become bigger consumers of the material if the focus was different. BTW-- I think a number of your stories could be converted into pretty darn erotic screenplays. Regards, ATP
