What are your thoughts on improvised locations for suspension?  I don't have a full dungeon at home, and I don't have access to one easily.  I'd like to do partial or full suspension at some point.  I can do half-assed stuff with the stocks frame I have, but thats limited too.  So, if you have any creative ideas that get close to the same effect, share away!

well the easiest suspension can be done with doors.
Just get a pvc pipe and attach a nylon strap to it then the strap attaches to the subs wrists. Close the door with the pipe on the other side, the strap goes in the gap between the door and the frame. if you have a set up that allows for two doors you can do the same to his ankles and suspend him horizontally. It's kinda lame but it'll get the job done. Just make sure your doors are sturdy. anything other than cheap hollow apartment doors are adequate.

Any garage or carport you can use? We took the carport at our apartment complex and screwed in some eyebolts to the rafters, hung PVC piping around the two sides hooked some tarps to the PVC piping and use double ended clips to close off the tarps.

(2) 2 X 4's
(2) C clamps sized app 8 to 10 inch

Clamp the 2X4's on either side of a interior doorway right above the doorway.
The C clamps when tightened should support 300-400 lbs
The 2X4's are to protect the walls.

Idea from a class by Midori 4 or so years ago,   "Suspension Bondage Made Easy with Midori " so might be a good idea to check some of her sites to confirm the weight capacity etc.

You didn't mention a budget or if it needed to be a "home made item". So anyhow, it might be a bit pricey, they make bondage frames that can be taken apart put in the closet or under the bed for times when not in use. I got mine from the Stockroom. Before i decided on a permanent playroom, i used to take it apart and put the tubes in the closet.
Even though i like making my own toys if possible, this was a good solution since it could support suspension and also double as a regualr bondage frame.
When i decided to have a dedicated "play room" i bolted it to the floor so i could shorten the support legs from 3 feet to 2 feet.  and added a winch to it for easy suspension. I first put a hand crank boat winch on it , but then i found an electric winch at harbor freight so i bought that.
I use 3/4 inch black iron pipe (precut and threaded ends) with end caps with holes drilled for eye hooks. the pipe i bought was 3 foot long , and available at most home depot stores.
Well i am not sure if that fits your budget , but it was my solution for when i wanted to dosuspension, especially upside down suspension. there is a pic of it, and the winch on my playroom page.

One of the best purchases every made by Master.  Martial Arts Kick Boxing Stand..>WOO HOO..
its a 4 legged stand easily breaks down and slips under the bed, stands at 7 feet high great for suspension, torture rack and so many pleasures....a little pricey, but before it became a kink thing he found it for $175, now it looks like it is going at a much higher price.

If not, go to local sporting goods store, get a chin up bar for the doorway that works wonders too.....

If you live in a busy city, and can get a way with it...borrow a hotel luggage cart.......suspension on wheels... :)

hope that helps, enjoy

Just be careful with these, as cranking them out too vigorously can actually bend the door frame out of true, to the point where the door no longer closes.

Also, while the door strap hangers (as described by VMistressV) work pretty well, just make sure that the door you're using them on either opens inwards, or has a deadbolt.

(we'll file both of these under "don't ask me how i know" )

i wanted a fool-proof way to make sure, all was safe

total cost $130

1 electric cable winch, any auto store has them, mine has 2500 lbs capacity
2 2x4 studs
1 decorative molding

i cut out a 16x16 hole in between my celing joist, using my 2x4 cut to 24" lenght and built a frame in side the celing mounted my winch to it, then cut my moulding to make a square all around my hole in the celing, and put back the 16x16 piece of dry wall back in its place, the only thing visible in celing, is the moulding

everyone thinks its a trap door the ceiling

the average ceiling is 8 feet high, giving plenty of height for suspension, and very safe way to play

welikespice -> RE: Suspension! (2/11/2008 4:34:43 PM)

I do like darkdungeon99's idea but even simpler is to make 2x4 box in your attic above where you want to play to occur. securely nail this to your ceiling joists. Then drill 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or how ever many anchor points you want into and though the 2x4 box frame and though the ceiling into your room. All you will see is the holes, these should be about 5/8 inch in diameter. Buy some internal threaded rod (1/2 is good for most weight). cut them just shorter then the 2x4 and the ceiling panel. On one end of these cut rod screw in a 1/2 x 1-1/2 inch bolt with a large fender washer on it. Push this down though the drilled hole from the top. All that is scene in the ceiling is the holes. When you us them just screw a eye bolt up in for your anchor spots. Unscrew when done. You can even paint some allen head screws the same color as ceiling to hide the holes when not in use.

A chin up bar works great. Also my Master bought a Heavy Bag with a wrought iron stand that is weighted.he bought it for working out boxing. But thought of all the things he could do aside from boxing. Duel purpose items are very cool.

Neat idea, but sadly nothing I'd put a human in :)

Morghan -> RE: Suspension! (2/12/2008 5:06:42 PM)

I think a major issue for me is living in a 200 year old farmhouse that is rather lacking in high ceilings.  Some of these ideas may work well, so I'll definitely put them in the mental toolbox.  The kickboxing stand may be the best of the bunch for my current space situation.

Thank you everyone!
