Beyond merely the agreement of a power exchange. Once the words and limits set down no longer matter, once I know they aren't needed to ensure our happiness together. Then I know he owns me.

For me, it means that serving his happiness is more important than serving my own (I have a strong selfish streak). And mine is fundamentally tied to his, no longer possible without it.
I have no idea if that would make sense to another soul...

For me: not only am i His property but He is my owner. Like Prolific Needs said, there is no longer anything that seperates us. Not time, nor distance, nor space, nor individual traits. i am not His for a moment. i am not His only when we are together. He is my owner when i am alone, at work, awake or asleep. Being owned does not diminish as we evolve and grow, it does not weaken when we are apart. He is deedholder of my heart.

For us it means I am loyal to him and only to him. I take care of him and put his needs and wants above my own. He is the one I think of before I go to bed and when I first wake in the morning. I can't imagine being with anyone else, my total heart belongs to him. It means I can't possibly imagine my life without him in it....he owns my past, my present, and my future.

I am his property and human pet. He conducts me as he sees fit and his will superseeds my own, in all things. He does this with my input, and with intimate knowledge of my thoughts, feelings, mental state, etc., but his word is my law and that is what I live by.

It just so happens that I am incredibly in love with him, too, which means I want for him what he wants and I'll do whatever it takes to please him as he wishes to be pleased. It means his lust ignites me, and his laugh lights my world, and his disappointment pains me. I am his toy, his whore, his companion, his assistant, his whipping post, his "whatever he wants of me" and I love it. I live to serve him.

for me? .... when my service is directed by someone other than myself ... At the moment any service I offer I direct and I choose to give.

I am owned when those decisions belong to another.

Interestingly though ... I wouldn't define myself as "property" until I was a collared slave .. but then that is just how i feel about those two words ... no flames please .. we all give personal meanings to these words

Growth, I can pretty much manage on my own. Self-esteem and internal security .. got those down as well. I can even serve in the ways in which I believe are best but he does manage me to grow as he desires and serve as he requires but I'd do that with any competent dominant. Being owned means he has the ability to destroy me which was a natural progression of breaking down my walls of self-protection. It wasn't a choice I made but rather a by-product of the choices I made.

Being owned is a state of mind. It is a mix of contributing factors by both the dominant and the submissive.

For me, it's about giving up complete control. By accepting Her word as law, it makes me feel as though I'm owned. It's all about blind faith and trust in Her. I choose to relinquish all control I have to Her. What also makes me feel owned is the fact that Mistress wants to possess me at that level. She wants complete control over me. Whether She chooses to utilize that control is completely up to Her, but She has that option.

Losing myself in Her dominance is what completes me. Falling into that abyss is what being owned is all about for me.

for me it goes beyond any collar he has put around my neck. collars can break, can change, but what i feel for him never can and never will change. if anything instead of weakening, like material collars, the true collar i wear only gets stronger with time. he and i seperated for a year, and spent that year furious with each other and not speaking unless to yell at each other. it only took one sit down meeting, looking at each other in the eyes for the silly things we became angry about to fade. our connection never broke no matter how much we wished for it, it remained strong through everything.

that is what it means to me to be collared. no matter how far away i am, it's never too far.
