ORIGINAL: FelinePersuasion I saw something on a bondage site they was advertising as a leather butt beater, I was wondering if you couldn't make this from tubing or something from home depo and for far less than fifty dollars. [image]http://www.designhers.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/xb441.jpg[/image] Seems like to me like this is a take on a carpet beater. This is a very old thing in fact. [image]http://www.angelfire.com/home/suradiimports/images/rugbeaters.jpg[/image] Here is some background for you: What Are Rug Beaters? Rug beaters, also called carpet beaters, carpet whips, clothes beaters, dust beaters & pillow fluffers, were in common use until the vacuum cleaner became affordable during the early 20th century. Carpets, rugs, clothes, cushions & bedding were hung over a clothesline or railing and the dust and dirt was beat out of them. Typically made of wood, rattan, cane, wicker, spring steel or coiled wire, antique rug beaters have become very collectible yet there are few sources of information about them - at the present time. You probably could find them in little shops in Chinatown or in some Arabic stores. They are still used alot in the Eastern world. And trust me, they can sting like hell (depending on the beater itself and one's pain tolerance), so you might not want to go full force right away. - LA
