mhawk -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/14/2008 9:09:20 AM)

my Lord and Mistress never used a collar on me for "consideration". before i came here it was clear and agreed on that i would be Their slave.
as soon as My Lord picked me up at the airport and we got in His vehicle, the manacles and collar He made, we put on me and i have worn them ever since and it has worked for U/us that way.

as He put it recently, "if none of U/us wanted this you would not have come.W/we all wanted this and here i am and happy to be here serving both my Lord and Mistress.

for some even if it is a net spawned thing, the "consideration collar" works and for some lie myself a collar is just that a collar. it is my Lord and Mistresses mark of Ownership of me as Their slave and i wear it happily.

I take a consideration collar as being equivalent to a little boy screaming " I have dibs on her...nobody else can touch her" because they can't stand any competition. Take her off the market before she realizes that he isn't what her 1st impression was.

I agree wholeheartedly. It seems like a way to place 'dibs' on someone before you even know for sure if you want them.

Also, I love your forum signature.

People call "dibs" on others all the time without a need for a piece of jewelry.

It is what the people involved make of it, and in my situation, it's a two way street, he's under consideration as much as I am.

mllesecret -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/14/2008 9:16:26 AM)

I think the concept of Consideration Collar is ok if both parties understand what it means for their particular relationship.  Other than that, it can cause a nasty grey area and lots of confusion.

I wonder if it's your story that I read about on TSR some months back.  It's quite an unique story IIRC.

mhawk -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/14/2008 9:23:34 AM)

OmegaG from TSR could it be the thread there of "a slave's poverty" with alot of comments from Remoses? if so He's my Lord and that would be the post :)

Remoses- yes I forgot his name, I'm sorry.  Yes, I remember that thread and you took quite a leap of faith, I'm glad it's working for you.

mhawk -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/14/2008 9:44:08 AM)

LadyLolly,

Your post is horsehit too.  Which authors exactly support your view?  I know Jay Wiseman personally and his writings show you to be ignorant, as do Guy Baldwin's and Jack Rinnella's.  So who exactly are you refering to?  Either name the books, post a link to the Leather Archive, or go hang out with our other resident know it all "Lady".

Also, by claiming "these old guard in this city and this date did this" you are showing that there wasn't a monolithic "one true way" that any of the gay leathermen did things.

Also, old guard is pre 1970's gay men PERIOD...you can follow their traditions (whatever you want to pretend they are) but you cannot BE old guard.  Its like saying that people at Renne Faires are Midievil, or that white people who follow American Indian traditions are "indians".

Tell you what, go ask your buddy Jay if Master Doug Harris of Atlanta's Sanctuary of a Dark Angel and the many, many other OG Masters in Atlanta during the 90's that worked extensively with the community there were horseshit and get an education as to what did go on.   You say you have a source available that I say you can use to verify - so go use it.   The OP asked a question, I answered from my own experience and as I was taught.  End of story as far as I'm concerned. You feel an overwhelming need to discredit what I've related  for some reason.  You seem to feel a need to discredit what many have to say.  What ever. You're a rude ass and I really don't feel any need to justify myself  to you.  Sorry, you just aren't all that important.  Get off you butt and check it out yourself if it means that much to you.

Reflectivesoul -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/16/2008 1:29:25 AM)

~edited cause my half asleep brain just wasnt functioning at the time~

New question tho, how can someone be Old Guard in the 1990's, isnt that a bit impossible?

MissMagnolia -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/16/2008 1:34:51 AM)

As in everything, if having a collar of consideration tickles your pickle (from either side of the fence), good luck to ya.

People who think it's a stupid idea? Good for you too, but it's none of your business what other couples do.

I answered from my own experience and as I was taught.

I've seen plenty of people sit through a lecture and come out with total misunderstanding of what the speaker said.  But Michael has already made up his mind.  I am still trying to figure things out.  You perved me profile, yet are not addressing my question to you in this thread.

Master Doug Harris had a massive stroke in 2006.  This happens to many men in their 80's, so perhaps he was "Old Guard".  I am sure some poster knows how old he is, and can tell me whether he served in the Second World War.

After a little Googling, I found online article repositories that included many articles by boy bob Harris alongside articles that described the use of the "three collars."  So I can see a potential source of confusion here: people who set themselves up as authorities posted side-by-side with actual authorities.  It seems significant to me that when I did a search for "collar" in boy bob Harris's articles, he never mentioned the three collars.  Either you wore a slave's collar, or you perhaps wore your own collar as a fashion statement.

On the other hand, the articles explaining the use of the three collars (for example, one by "Mistress Steel" - don't know who she is) are suspicious and Castle Realmy.  They refer to nothing exterior to the writer's knowledge and experience.  While that is understandable in short notes, the fact that there is no Google footprint whatsoever of a historical foundation for three-collar-use leads me to question if it has any justification at all.  This is starting to have the flavor of a 2,000-year-old secret society.

I read through the thread Katy linked, and read a couple of the articles linked by Michael and MadRabbit.  None of that material sounded like people just making things up.

But hell.  I'm going to be eating vegetarian all next week, so what do I know about leather culture.  I haven't made up my mind, but the ball's in your court.

RedMagic1 -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/16/2008 3:13:08 AM)

Thank you for the offline response, Lady Lolly.

LadyLolly -> RE: Clarity and Consideration Collars (2/16/2008 3:46:31 AM)

To clear up confusion,: boy bob Harris was Master Doug's slave.  He passed away in '02..   He took his Master's last name upon receiving a permanent collar in a public collaring ceremony.
