I knew some of my rope had become a bit dull after a bit of fun, but i had no idea how badly it needed to be cleaned until i bought some shiny new rope....wow. Anyhow, what can i do to clean my rope?

I find that a lingerie bag is great for holding my rope and running it through the washer... I don't run it through the dryer however and just get it all laid out so it can air dry afterwards.

Er, I dont know how to break the news to you, but that 'shine' on new rope is starch that is sprayed on it so that it looks good sitting on the store shelf. Cleaning it washes that starch off. There is no way to wash a rope that will bring back that shine.

Also you can soak rope in a bucket with water and fabric softner overnight before washing in the machine. That will make it nice and soft to work with. Mike
