ok, so it's late, and i'm tired, and i really don't want to be watching tv that makes me think. i end up drooling through an episode of blind date, until they bring on a man called snake. he says he's a "true master." but without any kind of explanation made by the blind date people. snake talkes about his desire for an obediant slave who can expect disobedience to be punnished. still, no mention of any form of context. on top of which, they make him out to be the strangest and most out of it person i've seen them bring on to date.

grrrrrrr. everytime i get all excited about a good show with a good portrayl of our community, another like this comes on and ruins it all.

It is very hard working with TV people (believe me I've done it). They may talk all about "wanting to let you tell the world the truth about your interests" but the bottom line is getting a rise out of the audience. I've met some good producers and directors but all too many have a sixth grade view of the world.

[showing my age] They still think the equivalent of "If I dunk her pigtail in the inkwell, she'll be interested in me."

Other have the DeMille approach ("If you want to send a message, use Western Union. This is ENTERTAINMENT.)

Well, I wouldn't expect much from Blind Date. They should have put that guy on Elimidate.

Seriously, though, if someone from our quadrant of the galaxy wants to come off well and true on one of those shows, I think slipping under the radar would be the way to do that. Slip it between the lines, in other words.

Actually, I have seen a couple of episodes of Blind Date that portrayed BDSM rather well. There was one with a ProDomme who took her date to the dungeon where she plays (they did NOT show that part, of course LOL) and they showed the discussion before hand that lead to him going - it was not planned as part of the date, but when he found out what she did, he asked to see it. It was very well and tastefully done. They also showed some of the discussion after where they discussed if he enjoyed it and if he would be willing to do it again (and of course, he said yes ... hehehehe). There was another, similar one with a Dom - but it was definitely not the one you watched, Fire.
