The Dakar Rally(the most whacked out,amazing and adventurous road race on the globe and my favorite rally)is moving to south America.
The rally runs every type and brand of vehicle from huge enduro motor cycles to supper huge all-wheel drive full-size tractor-trailer rigs.And every class and model of car/truck in between.
The 1st one I saw years ago had a double front ended all-wheel drive tractor trailer,that could be driven either way.Amazing.
The sheer amount of logistics and support crews make this an enormous undertaking.
Apparently,the security situation has gotten so bad in north Africa(I wonder why)that they decided to move it to south America.
Edited: It`s no longer the Paris-Dakar rally(when the race started in France).
They now call it the "Lisboa-Dakar" rally.
Who knows what the '09' rally will be named.
