Can I just say
a) Nice to see you post again
b) how did you get such a cool "chaps & class" moniker? I think all I got was "perverted" at that posting level

firesign -> RE: How to spot a sub from 10 yards (9/17/2005 12:47:56 AM)

I came to embrace my submissiveness after becoming tired of being the one adding the kink to my vanilla relationship. I am a natural leader who is comforted by having that control taken out of my hands. It allows me to relax and just exist. That and if someone is honest with me about what they want, I can then take such delight in pleasing them. I like making people happy. :) So, I think it'd be virtually impossible to spot my submissiveness from 10 yards.

LOL then what do you do if a dom comes up to you and tells you that you aren't a real submissive because they only shoe dominances when they are around a real submissive?

MrThorns -> RE: How to spot a sub from 10 yards (9/19/2005 6:08:14 AM)

Depending on wind conditions, a good paintball gun should do the trick.

How will a paintball gun do the trick?

i am natrualy submissive and tend to act that way, i find it hard to displeese anyone, but then i also have a temper and get tepted to be sarcstic now and again.

Where was that article!!! I would love to be able to spot a Dom from 5 ft away..LOL....
I can spot most subs...but then I am a sub...though I think its an energy that one gives off to others....

Ask her to dance and see if she tries to back lead.
Although that doesn't work with woman who have ballet training. They are natural born followers, at least on the dance floor. However if you can get her to swing dance to "spank me" and she turns around bends over on the break.....

well I don't know about anyone else..but I have a sure fire ..never fail...always dead on way to tell a sub..at even further distances than 10 yds...but if I told everyone...they wouldn't be out there doing what they do to meet and explore all the possibilities...make those mistakes in identity..and just plain meet new people...after all isn't that the world of intergration...knowing our fellow man so to speak...

Spotting a sub is not a science, but there are some signs you can look for.

Pinky Rings
Downward glances, especially when making eye contact
Kanji for slave, etc. tattoed visibly

all unreliable, so you just have to meet them and find out.

ballet training doesn't teach a girl to follow other than the teacher. with partnering, you'd be amazed to see (and hear) the looks and words a ballerina will give her partner should he err in a hold, lift, or turn. it's an art, and perfection is something you constantly strive for.

NewlyBruised -> RE: How to spot a sub from 10 yards (9/20/2005 10:07:28 PM)

Wow, it all sounds familiar.

I was, shall we say noticed, at work. I was a team lead and incredibly aggressive my coworkers about my teams goals. I was told the same thing others have mentioned - You must be one hell of a Mistress, do you prefer whips or chains?

Well, I never thought about it as my Husband is THE most Vanilla man I have ever met. The man that turned out to be my Master noticed tho, that when I spoke to a forceful or dominant man, outside of work, I avoided eye contact, kept my head down and kept my hands behind my back. I also never spoke unless spoken to directly. He approached me one day, and told me I was leaving for an hour. When I looked up to prtest I immediately looked away and left work. I knew, he knew and since then, well, he's been teaching me a lot. I knew I was into some of the stuff he's shown me, but I had no idea how far into it my mind had already gone.

So, that's what got me noticed... and yeah, I too am "in the lead" outside of my Master's domain.

And the differences at home with my marriage... wow... I don't feel the need to be nearly as controlling or forceful with my husband now, and he loves it.

Well, Me and My friend have what we call Gaydar. I guess that subdar works just as well. Over time, you start to pick up those little clues that someone will drop when their not fully into the scene, and, well, the larger clues will just slap you in the face. That, or your blind as a bat.

WOOOHOOO for gaydar and subdar!!! lol yeah they really do work...

firefighteremt -> RE: How to spot a sub from 10 yards (9/21/2005 10:47:21 AM)

My sub is a very in charge person at work and looks like a very incharge person out of work. In control at all times and very sure of herself. It was only when she was around other Dom's before me, and now just with me that she shows her sub side. I could tell right away when talking to her because she showed me that side that she didn't show everyone else. I guess that she picked up the Dom in me before I noticed her in that respect.

I saw an article how to spot a dominant from 10 yards away once. I was curious what you would say were the top things that you see in subs accross the bar, at work, and in social gatherings that seem to be a pattern. What do you see 10 yards away that would narrow the search for a potential submissive, or make you smile as you review the room and say "that person is definately a sub type".

Your thoughts?

Met My first ever Domme last nigh at My first ever munch, had no clue she was a domme. Admitedly it was My first r/l experience and it was at a munch, not a party, but kink was allowed and she -wasnt- new to the scene, also met My first ever submissive at the time, she was -totally- normal, although she was wearing a very narrow gold coloured collar. My point is,I dont think you can tell very often,or too reliably who is Domme, Dom. etc.

I can't tell. I wish I could. I sometimes wonder how many times I missed the signals and lost my chance.
