Greetings All, i have a question that i could really use some advice on. i have a an allergic reaction to nickle. i am looking for a metal turian style collar that has no traces of nickle what so ever. even as low as 12% will break me out. if Anyone has any suggestions i am open to hearing them. thank You.

warmest regards, lila

I'd say just search stainless steel turian collars and then contact manufacturers to find out the exact composition to be on the safe side. You could also hunt down to see if there are any manufacturers who make turian style collars by special order. Special order will likely cost you more, but might get you the result you need.

I agree with prolific, Its been awhile since I looked at the chemical composition of different grades of stainless steel. but 316 stainless is medical grade stainless and I believe has a very low nickel level(< 5% if i remember correctly but don't quote me, especially concerning your health)

Also I don't know what a Turian collar is, you can certainly look for other types of collars. a "common" definition of a collar is a piece of jewlery that is able to be locked on.
some people use regular necklaces and attach small Screw clasp (requires an allen key to open) or others will Solder the pieces shut (though for you that means checking that the solder is nickel free as well)
Cheers
Skully

316 SS has anywhere between 10-14% Ni content.  If someone has a nickel sensitivity, they should stay away from all 300 series stainless steels and use one of the 400 series grades instead.  416 or 440 would be good choices.  "Medical grade" is a meaningless term used by marketing departments and has no correlation whatsoever to the composition of the steel.

Turian is one of the classic gorean style collars, for some who follow gorean practice, the style of collar can be important.

I might have what you are looking for. This collar does not have any nickel in it. It is sterling silver. It comes in two diameters of material and is made to fit your neck.
Please take a look here .....

Alluminum might be a good choice.
Niobium more rare and expensive but considered hypo allergenic.
Palladium more expensive still but often used in jewelry alloys to replace nickel.
Of course if cost is not an object then titanium may be a choice as well

You should also talk to VadFarkas here on CM. He makes Turian collars as well with exceptional quality. Although most of his stuff is in SS I'm sure he might be able to help you....
