If the bill is so important, why won't the Republicans strike the Telecom Immunity part which is holding it up?

It's begging the question of course, because the answer is obvious: Bush acted illegally by wiretapping phones, and email of EVERYONE. So, he's trying to cover his ass on the way out the door, so his "legacy" remains... "spotless."

The bill serves no purpose aside from pandering to the "be scared...be very scared" Republican litany and catering to the Bush administration's desire to look tough on terror while helping their corporate pals. Apparently the Democratic congressional reps are a bit gutsier than the senators. Let it die.

Agreed... scare tactics are not a good enough reason to pull an end run around the Constitution. This either needs to expire or be stuck down.
