Obama doesn't stand a chance against McCain.   Hillary could give him a run for his money, but doubt she could take him.

It's all about getting party turn out and winning the independents.   The republicans rule when it comes to party turn out and McCain is moderate enough to win a lot of independents.

At this point, "not sure" can tip ALL of the potential match ups in the cited Zogby poll.  Obama seems to me to be the better choice for the Dems, and the stronger candidate.  But he is essentially a blank slate, and has had a basically free ride so far, which is really risky. 

If I were a Dem I would be supporting Obama.  Of course I dream about Obama winning the most delegates, but Hillary taking the Nomination anyway due to the Superdelegates/ Party Machine.  Then facing Mc Cain in the generall election.  But I have it on good authority that Superdelegates don't exist, and that is just one my "lies".


I just learned something about Obama today that turns me off.  Not a deciding event, but a negative.  Apperantly he was visitng Russia as a dignitary, and was asked to participate in the traditionall Vodka drinking contest.  Mc cain and Hillary both did it on a different trip.  But unlike Hillary or Mc Cain,  Obama drank shots of water for the photo shoot.  Thats just lame.  Say "No, I don't want to" or "I am an American and can drink your ass under the table and kick your commie ass".

Pretending while drinking shots of water is just weak and the behavior of a pussy.  Sort of like sitting at a party pretending to hit the joint, <fake cough, good shit man...>  I don't trust people like that.   Or is this legitimatley a crazy belief on my part.  This might be one.

I think it will be Obama vs McCain.

And the winner will be out in 4 years. Both parties are very divided about which way they want their party to go, let alone the country.

I’m not exactly thrilled with the idea of Obama as President but at least he is not Hillary.

I’m not exactly thrilled with the idea of a lobotomized toad for President but at least it wouldn’t be Hillary.


If it is Obama versus McCain I think McCain’s age (i.e. the perception of greater experience) might edge him out. McCain’s biggest problem is that the far right elements of the Republican party have shown themselves willing to stay home on election day if they don’t think they’re getting their way.

If it is Hillary versus McCain I think He’ll have an easier time of it. He is likely to pick up a sizable chunk of the Obama voters and fear of Hillary should get enough of the far right elements to come out on election day even though they’re feeling surly that they didn’t get a conservative enough candidate.

I actually have a lot of respect for Barack Obama for that point.

I have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, a parting gift from my biological mother. As such, I have made the decision to never drink alcohol. And for the 24 years of my life, I haven't once touched a drop of alcohol.

I survived through being stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, which at one point their Class Six stores (sells alcohol) sold more alcohol than any other military post in the continental US. I never once drank. I'm almost through college, living in Mt. Pleasant with Central Michigan University, a university that was featured twice in the 90s in Playboy Magazine's Top 100 Party Colleges in the United States. And again, I have yet to drink.

Now imagine if Obama was there for the traditional ceremony, sans any glass or liquid at all? He would look like an idiot. I don't think it was so much him being a pussy and pretending, it was him making a choice, and simply going through the motions so he could still participate and respect the ceremony.

If Obama were around, I'd toast him water to water, because I know what it's like to be surrounded by drinkers, and you're the only person without.

I think that it will wind up being an Obama v McCain battle.   At least I really hope so.   And even though I am a Republican I would vote for Obama.    But against Hilary I would vote McCain.

Really? I am an independent conservative, and because of reasons of integrity will likely vote Obama if it is him against McCain. I know a few other independents that feel the same.

Obama is the more electable candidate, but Hillary would actually make the better president because of experience. Obama has never ran anything in his life. He has no foreign policy experience and countries like China and Russia will mop the floor with him. He has no experience picking the right staff. And he's likely to trip and fall and make mistakes especially during his first 100 days. The idea that he's going to get in there and start cleaning up the country immediately is a pipe dream. He'll trip around for awhile.

Keep in mind also that Senators rarely do well as president, if history is any guide. The best presidents have been governors. JFK, who was a Senator, made massive foreign policy errors in his first few months as president.

This is why the right-wing is willing to forfeit the election...many even are suggesting voting for the Democrat in order to insure a McCain defeat. They are banking on the idea that Obama will get in there and start tripping which will allow the conservative movement to reorganize for a comeback starting in the 2010 Congressional elections and then knock off Obama in 2012.
