i rarely mark from normal play, in fact i usually have to set out with the intention of scarification for it to be seen 3 days later...that being said i have 4 things that took more than 3 days to visually heal, my brand, my 2 cuttings, and a whip scar that i got the same day as one of my cuttings...with the exception of the last cutting, they were all healed in less than a month, the last (2nd) cutting was done on the front of my thigh and due to the stretching the skin does and the nature of the cutting, it took 6 weeks to heal...

the unseen physical pain - the muscle soreness and below the surface bruising (i have to have severe surface damage to see the bruises) lasts for about a week if done right....my friends ask me when i am talking about pain from playing "are you complaining or bragging"....the answer is usually bragging...i don't get to keep the marks, but i do get to keep the soreness...and poke at it...but i like pain, for pains sake, if it was done in the right way by the right person....

I am my Masters frustration, literally. In 4 years he has managed to make me once, despite all efforts. It faded in a couple of days. So far in my life, it has taken great effort for anyone to make me using regular instruments of torment, and the only ones that have stayed have involved, burns, slightly caustic materials, brands or cutting.

As a diabetic, I should be a slow healer and save for a pair of nipple piercings that went badly (through the ducts which has never healed, please get references on your piercer), most things heal very quickly. Vitamin E and Zinc have a wonderful effect on this.

I used to flog and whip a married girl who couldn't let her husband find out about her play. It seemed like she would bruise so easily and would have to hide things for a long time until she healed. The same girl is separated now, living alone and I flog, whip and cane her much harder and zilch. She rarely marks or bruises. Maybe there is a psychological element when it comes to marking? The girl is relaxed with a trusted Dom, not worried about marks and she doesn't mark as easily?

I think when you're happy, relaxed, not stressed, not worrying, taking care of yourself, your body is in better shape and will reward you as such.  So yes, I think there's a pyschological/physical connection.   I know it's true for me.

Yes, I'm sure a more relaxed atmosphere helps her circulation to be more at ease.  Hence, less blood flow for bruising.
However, I'm more inclined to think there is more than that element going on here.  You have been whipping her a while now.  And, from the tone of your post, you got her when she was "raw."  So, I would be more inclined to think that she has become "seasoned" over time.  Thus, not marking as easily.
Also, levels of alcohol intake can affect this as well.   Maybe she was drinking more when in a bad relationship?
Don't know.  And you didn't indicate it.  But just throwing out some factors that can make a difference.
All in all, I would say that seasoning plays the largest part in her ability to take more without marking.
