Went to see the "reunited" Van Halen.  Eddie, David Lee, Alex.....but with Wolfgang (Eddie's 15 y/o) son on bass.
It was unbelievable.  It rocked.  Played over 2 hours....non stop.  Eddie didn't miss a lick and had a few new ones to blow your mind.
If you get a chance to go see them, and you liked Van Halen, pre-Sammy, I recommend it.

They're playing here on Monday... and I have to work *grumble*

How was Dave's voice?

I wonder what meds Dave is on.  When they broke up the first time, Eddie said they would never tour again until Dave was heavily medicated with psychotropic mood stabilizers.

Gotta love people who speak in infinitives.  People seem to forget that the words they say today might actually be remembered by people tomorrow.

We saw them in October, it was their 7th show. It rocked.

I am probably one of Dave's biggest fans, I loved his solo material, until the bluegrass album.  Dave's voice was much better than the hillbilly bluegrass crap he put out 3 years ago, and he hit almost all of his high notes.

While I miss Mike, Wolfie did a damn good job on bass, although he seemed like he was still a bit nervous in front of the crowd, and he was a bit stiff on stage...Perfectly understandable.

Alex is still a monster on the drums, and it was cool to see the genuine smile on his face after his solo, he was having a ball.

Eddie, well is Eddie, and with the exception of being tied to his effects petals, showed why he is still one of the best ax slinger's ever. It was really cool to hear Cathedral, and Little Guitars live. (I missed the Diver Down tour)

Bits of the show seemed rehearsed, like Dave conveniently forgetting the words, and letting everyone know he "forgot the fucking words". And his and Eddie's onstage hug, didn't really look as spontaneous, as it was supposed to.

Overall I am very happy I got to see this tour, and hope they will make into a studio for some new material.

It was pretty darn good, all things considered.  I saw him solo on New Years 2004 at Universal and he was plump and really  bald.  He has really thinned down.  Looked good.  And looks like he might have got some rug or plug put on top.  He even did a few infamous kicks.
He was still a great front  man.  Did some baton and flag twirling that was pretty kewl.  His signature scarf came out.  But no Samrai swords.  Dressed in Diamond (Dave) Studded jacket, leather pants, and top hat.  Great!!
Eddie was his signature "topless" self, with suspenders on knicker like kahki's with beach shoes.  As neeeekid as possible.  And he looked GREAT too!!
He even used a real plug from guitar to amp!!!!  No transmitting.  They had a huge screen that would zoom in on his finger work.  Totally awesome.

And, yet, it's Eddie who hit rehap a few times.  Who knows.  But they kicked ass!!!!

Oh YES!!!  Alex was working those skins!!!  The whole arena was standing and yelling.

I heard those famous words "Geeee...I forgot the fucking words!" line on the very last concert of the 1984 (Album & year) tour in Dallas, Tx.  One of their best, ever albums.  Musically.  To me.  But, 1984 was a year full or a LOT of crazy memories for me and I relate a lot of them to that album.

Not my point.  I dont care who uses the Mel Gibson defense.

He used the term "never" in the same sentence as "tour with David Lee Roth" and "unless he is on heavy duty psychotropic meds."

Now he is on tour with David Lee Roth.

And I'm soooooooooo glad!!!  I've been hoping for years it would happen.
Van Halen just wasn't Van Halen w/o David Lee.
Sammy was ok....but that's like the Beatles with a replacement for John Lennon or Paul McCartney.  Just not the same.

Which is all that matters... conveniently forgetting certain old lines drawn in the sand seems to get the job of making music done.  A shame some other big groups never figured that out.

Exactly.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a Zep tour/album......

There are few bands I would love to see more than them [8|] As soon as Plant finishes his tour with Allison Krause..... *crosses fingers*

I think there is a Black Sabbath album (possibly two, one with Dio, one with Ozzy), that may see light of day. I'd like that, as well.

I would love to see VH, Led Zep, etc., in concert.  To be honest, though, I would pay more to see Oingo Boingo or Madness or Selector or Queen in concert again.

I would not go see Devo in concert.  Being at the Raincross Square DEVO riot with my punker girlfriend and her blue hair was a pinnacle moment in my life and is a memory I would not wish to sully.
