This is one of my favorite songs.  It's not a live performance.  They have a few of those on youtube, but the sound quality sucks.  It's a Wilco rendition of a Woody Guthrie song.  It's magnificent.

I love Arlo Guthrie too.  I am a big folk music fan.  I love that good morning america how are you (don't remember the real title) song.  I have this fascination with trains and hobo living.  It just screams America to me.

Slaveboy, I always liked trains too.
I took a train from Boston to San Francisco by myself when I was 11 years old.

I have only taken tourist train rides.  I know that sounds weird for someone that loves trains.  I can stand around all day looking at one of those old steam locomotives.  My dad grew up in West Virginia.  Right in front of their house was a railroad track.  It was mostly out of use when I was a kid.  But my dad would take me for walks down those tracks and tell me about hearing the old steam locomotives in the 40's.  It just fascinated me.  I applied about 5 times with Union Pacific for several jobs.  I double majored in college in history and criminal justice.  I wanted to be a railroad detective.  But, they just aren't hiring.

It just fascinates me.  I love travel and geography.  I can name every capital of every state, and every capital of every country.  I read maps all the time planning my travels.  I just hate being in one place too long.

The late great Steve Goodman wrote 'City of New Orleans'.  Arlo does a nice version of it.
