This new "circle of friends" My-Space rip off...whatever you want to call it...i know it's been discussed before but does anyone else look at someone's friend list and go "oh, Y/you have THIRTY really great friends?"  What's up with the "collectors", as i call them?

i get friends requests from people (Dom and sub...but mostly Dom) that have never said so much as ONE word to me before.  Isn't that what the "admirers" list is for?

i have a very hard time taking someone seriously when i pull up their page and 45 others are on it and i know for a fact they've never breathed a word in my direction but now are sending me a "friends" request.

Is is just me?

It always seems odd to me too.  I have one person in my friends list, and I she is part of my munch group.   But I get requests, not just here, but on several other groups I am on, from strangers.  One guy has like.. 400 friends, holey smokes. How special it much be to be part of a throng of empty faces..

I have several on my page, but they are people that I communicate with all the time here on CM and/or real life....I have had other requests, and some I have accepted to be on theirs, but have not reciprocated; the ones on my page truly are people I talk to here and rl.

I dunno, I had one added recently. Took them off for being flakey. It's hard to find good material in places like this.

I don't have a My Space page, but I've heard of the friends feature there.  I do have a lot of friends on my profile, but they are all people I have either met in person (my Master and I are active in the DC Metro area community and have met extended people who visit the club we belong to), or they are people with whom I have "talked to" on the boards or have been talking to via PM's for a while.  These people are on my friends list, either at my request or theirs.  I have had a slew of people ask to be a friend on my list or for me to be a friend on theirs...  and I have never even seen their screen names before.  These folks get rejected.  The people I consider my friends are special, the others fall by the wayside.

i had a man from Canada who just seemed to want "friends" on his profile contact me today and ask to be a Friend....the ones i have on there are all there for a reason...be it i met them in the past or talked on the phone or just think they are special in some way....when i see someone who has like over 50 friends i think of alt.com which i stopped going to....some people are just in that mode to have as many "friends" as they can and i find it a bit weird..but just my humble opinion....

edited to say:  i find myspace for teenagers and those trying to promote a career of some kind..but i could be wrong..i have only been there twice.
