Every politician (and most of us) worth (their) salt is/are wondering whether or not China is, or will be in the years to come, our friend....why the HELL aren't we offering to send over snow plows, bull dozers, (sweaters) and everything else we can think of to help out in this situation? http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080218/wl_asia_afp/chinaweathertransport Those people are just as much traumatized as any other disaster in the world...and we could actually make a difference. Hmmmmm?

There's a thread going on next door where people argue that an ideal world is one where you ignore your neighbours when they're in need of help, but where you go and help yourself to their things when you need help [8\|] .

It's simply a problem of logistics. By the time we got snowplows put together, put on ships and over to China, then on to where they need them the snow would probably be melting. Ever hear the saying "A slow boat to China?" From Long Beach , Calif the biggest shipping port on the West coast you're probably talking 9,000 miles to Hong Kong or Shanghai. That's a three week trip for a cargo ship.

Well, aside from the fact that we can get big monstrously large Air Force planes, with 15 tanks inside each that are bigger than any dump truck and snow plow I've ever seen, to Iraq in less than 48 hours....I'd still have to say (even as it pains me to do so)...."that makes a lot of sense Popeye".

china has 1.8 BILLION people and an endless amount of money (mind you we owe them over $9 trillion atm if im not mistaken) to take care of their own problems. the problem isnt us helping them, thats like a little 4 year old tyring to beat someone up for their dad. china has more then enough resources to solve their own problems, they just simply dont care about thier people.
