Hello There,
I would caution you in giving your password to anyone you don't know well and trust. If you just met her I'd not advise it. I'd recommend you tell her if she'd like to read your E-Mail to get together with you and you'll log her in so she can look around your account messages.
If you do reach the point you do give her the password just change the password the next day so she won't have un-approved access to your mail.
Sincerely,
sub suzanne

Online only? no password for HER!!

My Masters have my passwords, but we all live together, and for awhile I was out of town, had no internet access, and I wanted them to be able to check my e-mail while I was gone. That is the only reason they had my passwords. Control is great and all - but my online activities do NOT need supervised to that extent!!

Do not give her your password.

[evil grin] That assumes "she" hasn't already changed the password, blocked you out and is now working hard ruining your reputation.

Exactly what I was thinking.

We have a friend that gave a Dominant she was dating (r/t) her passwords and access to her computer while he visited at her house. Well, one day he got pissed off at her and posted a picture of her genitalia on several websites and changed all of her profiles to something she considered very derogatory, then changed her passwords. Took months to get it all straightened out.

In this case someone in our community was the first to spot it and informed her.

I would'nt hand it over to someone I've never even met. Those I have met I would'nt hand it over. My dom and I have been together 6 1/2 year's now. He has all of my passwords. Not because he has asked for them but because over time he has needed to sign on when I wasn't available to do so.
I know he is mature enough and trusts me enough not to abuse the priviledge.

How can you possibly know that online?

I agree with everyone, I wouldn't give it to her. You have never met her and don't really know what she is going to do. My Master has my password, but only for times I can't long on and I have known him almost 2 years. I also have his passwords for times he can't log on. Its a matter of trust and respect, and that takes a while to earn.

Don't hesitate to give your password. Then you can give your account number and the code needed to manage your account on the internet... And if you don't want to give them to her, give them to me. Don't worry, I'm honest. I won't buy drugs with your money.

Master has my password...but then again I have his...and we're married...and we've known each other for a while. Tell her that you would be more than happy to do this for her after you get to know her better and are more comfortable in that situation. If it is only an online relationship, definitely don't give it to her. There is potential for all kinds of lovely internet crime to happen...especially if your password here is the password to anything else, like bank statements. But of course, that's just my opinion.

I've never met you and I don't give my password to people I've never met. It is my personal limit.

Did She offer you Hers so you would know she is faithful also? I am assuming that was the point of asking for it... unless like someone mentioned there be other devilment afoot...lol. If She didn't, tell her the password is "nunyadamnbidness".

If I were seriously seeing someone... and we had met, and it was beginning to solidify between us.... as a token of good faith I would have no problem telling her what it was if she was doing the same. But mind you, that's only after I knew them very very well....

But then again, I could be wrong... I probably am.

The passwords to our private things, are like the keys to our house, and our car. Sure someone can break into either one with out the keys, but it leaves evidence, However if you handed someone the key to your house they could walk right in riffle through your belongings do as they please rob you destroy your stuff maybe, And all because you let them in.

Same with online. The password keeps people from impersonating you with out it. ever heard of a thing called identity theft?

if you want to try to build this relationship, all you can do is be honest.

for example:

"You want 100% control, and i understand that, but because we are online only, i need to protect myself r/t. i don't think i should give You my password, but if You would like me to put anything different in my profile or journal, i will." as for emails... well, all you can do is tell her about them, or copy-paste what you feel like sharing.

i have my Master's IRC password, but i only ever use it to log on to maintain His ID registration while He is offline. i trust Him with my personal information and He can have my password, should He ask for it, but He doesn't ask for it. i am not sure i would be in a good place if He insisted on it, because He felt that was the only way to trust me. does that make sense?

Being honest and telling her that something like this takes a lot of trust, and that trust takes time. As a matter of fact, I just happen to know some other people's passwords, and even a friend's credit card number. But, er... this friend didn't just chat with me on the internet, she trusted me long before that (... and still does ! ).
