JackM1 -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 11:51:03 AM)

i think its a power thing. personally, my marine looks damned spiffy in his dress blues(i only wish he werent retiring before he became an officer! the white pants look more stately tan those damned blue things and the blood stripe...)

could be because those particular uniforms make them stand in such a way that theyre chests are out, arms tensed at their sides, jaws set....also...possibly the stereotype that all men in the military are completely ripped?(this is, unfortunately, untrue for the most part...built maybe, but airforce and navy tend to be rather lax and dont pump themselves up as much as some marines and army men do)

mmmmm uniforms. that's one of the perks of college - all those ROTC students walking around in uniforms every other day *fans self*

anywho...

as for kittenSol's question, i'll second JackM1's response and say it's a power thing. there is something about that military mindset - uniforms usually denote a certain amount of physical and/or mental training, and tend to subconsciously reinforce a dominant position (think drill seargent). from my own POV, i like to know the dom(me) i am with can overpower me, and a uniform can be used as a tool to reinforces that idea.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen or Marines?

Eh, a man in uniform doesn't do much for me, but I've always been turned on by pilots.  Don't know why exactly.  My dad was a private pilot, so maybe it's got something to do with that on some psychological level.  If a guy is a pilot, whether military, airline, or whatever, they automatically turn my head and I just gotta look further.  Yummy.

For awhile seemed like all I was talking to  were those that  had at one time  been Navy. had one Dom that was actually in the navy when I  served him  wasnt  deliberate just happened that  way

The psychology of uniforms: why does it turn some people on?

I don't know. It is actually a turnOFF for me.

I vote for women.....without the uniform.

Perhaps people make a link between a uniform and authority?

Still doesn't explain it. Oh gawd!

I prefer men in a tux to a uniform any day .. often have submissives in  a tux or at least a tux shirt and jacket and a thong ..

I figured it out!!!

It's the Village People's fault!

THAT'S IT!!

In all seriousness, I have to laugh when I see uniforms and the military associated with being a wonderful and in control dominant. Of course a lifetime around more military and law enforcement personel than I can possibly count might have something to do with my disillusion.

How to kill a fantasy: make it happen 'for weal'.

LaTigresse -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 12:43:35 PM)

Most definately.

LadyEllen -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 1:29:35 PM)

My deepest fantasy is to be wandering along the sea shore in Myrtle Beach and to encounter this handsome former Coast Guard guy who takes me back to his place, and shows me his uniform......

(do I win $10-00 for the right answer?)

badprofessor -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 1:34:02 PM)

Of course The Village People. And of course power. But I think there's also a connotation of sacrifice in the sense that the self is subordinated to what is represented by the uniform, and if a man can sacrifice himself for that, then just maybe he'll sacrifice himself for his lover. That sort of thing.

Personally, I've always harboured negative thoughts about women who like a man in a uniform--something about buying into the fascism of conformity.

I dont know. I think a man in a tux is there to take my order. Too much time working in fine dining in my twenties.
I'll take a military uniform but not a police uniform.

CalifChick -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 3:52:57 PM)

I'm shallow, I'll admit.  Uniforms.  YUMMMMMMMMY.

Are you too having visions of Richard Gere sweeping you off your feet and carrying you out of the plant? I wonder who would look better in the hat? You or me???

CalifChick -> RE: Ladies, who are you attracted to? (2/19/2008 3:57:14 PM)

Nah... I thought that scene was a little contrived.  He should have grabbed her hand and YANKED her ass outa there.  A little throw-down action from there.  And he doesn't have to say a word (sometimes it's better that way). LOL!
