I heard something recently that reminded me of an old loss. Got me writing.

If I was given love
then it was a mistake
for I am not enough
I learned that hope was fake
when I was given sight
while huddled in the night
If I was labelled brave
they didn't feel me shake
how could I ever save
the things that Time will take
when colours wash to grey
the rescued fall away
If I was seen with tears
the image would be wrong
because I cannot fear
because it makes you strong
when something has no worth
it cannot really hurt
If I was still human
then you might still be here
I could be forgiven
but Life is hard, not clear
I cannot bring you back
I cannot bring you back
I'm whole and only half
