Zensee -> RE: So, we bombed Pakistan... (2/20/2008 2:13:28 AM)

It is completely understandable, lucky, because Obama is not the topic of this thread. I was just making a snide aside. You should try them some time - I think you'd be good at it. But if you insist on my opinion about Obama I can offer it. (You know I'm free with those. ) Whoever becomes President has a real mess on their hands and Pakistan is a puzzle and a half in itself. That said I am disappointed by his "tough talk" and promise to act unilaterally in a foreign, sovereign, allied nation (albeit one run by a criminal dictator under the Whitehouse Seal of Approval). Whether Obama means it or if it is just posturing to get elected, I don't know. He's as much a politician as the rest of the suspects. The strategy of policing terrorists with uniformed forces is ill advised. But then his hand is forced, to a large degree, because he is inheriting someone else's mistakes - so he'll have to make the best of it. If I had his ear I'd say, get out of Iraq and consolidate with the rest of NATO (as originally agreed) in Afghanistan. Fight al Qeda by being more devious than they are (infiltration, deception, psy ops, disruption, the usual spook stock in trade). The overt war was always a bad idea but Bush just had to have his Mission Accomplished moment. Z.
