Oh wow wow the moon is huge. A golden yellow moon just hanging on the horizon, when I look at it through my trees it almost looks like it is pierced by a branch.It is beautiful. Not sure if I can/allowed to stay up and see it eclipse though. I may just sneak out and get a peek. Aw who am I kidding lol, I will stay inside. Bah. It is still beautiful right now in its golden glow.

camille65 -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 3:54:38 PM)

Aw this sucks. I want to go out n see it but oooooh no I had to go ahead and promise to stay inside and warm. Heh I feel like throwing an eclipse temper tantrum!At least I will be able to see photographs of it tomorrow.

Yeah, it's big and bright here in Myrtle Beach too.
I wonder when the last lunar eclipse was?

camille65 -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 5:01:52 PM)

Okay I have my down coat, hat, scarf, mittens, boots and I'm going to go find the eclipse!I love da moon.

GreedyTop -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 5:07:36 PM)

YAY!!!! the sky is clearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I may get to see it after all!!  *happy dances like a maniac*

SubbieOnWheels -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 5:28:51 PM)

I envy those of you who can actually see this phenomenon. Besides the clouds around here, and the buildings blocking the view, there's the issue of my eyesight. I could see the main feature (the moon being "swallowed  by the dragon"), but the details would be lost. I miss it when the moon is just a slim crescent and the dark part is visible ("the new moon holds the old moon in her arms").

GreedyTop -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 5:32:19 PM)

*hugs* subbie....

camille65 -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 5:46:57 PM)

I wish you could see it. Just now it has gone white and grey marbled with the faintest hint of glowy red edging in from the top right section. It is much more of a red red than I had expected but that may change as it continues. My tree branches criss cross it like veins on a leaf, a tracing of black against the brightness. It is a very small bit of red so far and I think it is too cold to go out later and take pics. Dang it.

Jeeze...Ive been outside bouncing around like an idiot snapping pics left and right and giggling like a wild woman.  Youd think it was Johnny Depp in the sky the way I am acting.[8|]

camille65 -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:14:51 PM)

[:D] and [&:] because I got busted sneaking out lol.

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:16:19 PM)

Dang.  If you were closer, I would spring ya out Alcatraz style.  Oh well.  Better go keep warm!

TheHeretic -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:18:05 PM)

       I stepped out onto the deck for a peek.  Completely unobstructed view, but I'm not standing out in the cold (by local standards) to watch.

      I have to wonder how many completely ignorant people are seeing this and freaking out.

Sanity -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:20:06 PM)

Too cloudy in the Boise area. I can barely make it out.

Don't feel too bad Kyttyn, I've been going out a few times taking pics of the eclipse! It just started here a short time ago and not supposed to be a full eclipse until 10 pm my time.Sky is completely clear here!

GreedyTop -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:23:55 PM)

the clouds here keep obscuring it, then clearing (TEASE!!!).  I'm at work, so I cant sit outside andjust watch (although I've got a few guests all excited about it, so they're popping in and out too,..LOL)
Like a dumbass, I forgot to grab my camera before I left the house... *sigh*  Kyttyn.. would you send me copies??

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:24:15 PM)

I got this stoopid partly cloudy sky, so I gotta stand in the freezin till a good point comes through so I can get pics for a friend who is laid up sick and cant get out, as well as for my own collection.  Sheesh...the things I do...

I will send you copies once I got them.  Dually noted.  I apologize ahead of time if my photography sucks[:D]

GreedyTop -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:26:01 PM)

no worries!  Thanks! *hugs*

TheHeretic -> RE: Lunar Eclipse Tonight (2/20/2008 6:27:33 PM)

       So much for having to stand outdoors.  Turns out I have an excellent view from my living room window.  It's not even 6:30 here.  Knowing Californians, it will probably cause traffic problems.
