Yeah, it's big and bright here in Myrtle Beach too.
I wonder when the last lunar eclipse was?

(an awesome person gave me a link earlier, lol)
Its the total eclipse that has the red moon when covered.  I just went and looked again at the progress, the moon is about half covered.  It is awesome looking at present, it gives the illusion of the light undulating right now; it will be "regular" moon colored one minute, and then its almost like a line of light passes over the moon and lights it super bright as it goes along the surface, then it fades a bit and starts over........the next total one is 2010, there are some partials before then but this is total..going back out with sockies on to watch it!!

I've seen that (not tonight, but in the past). It's awesome!

Its sooo pretty out! God.  I am just in complete awe with how beautiful the sky is.  We gotta huge clear patch over head, and with luck, it will stay that way till the total hits.  Cross youre fingers!

Well here the clouds covered just as it happened.  It seems to be coming back, but the only red I saw was dark as it was coming back, and then friggin clouds covered it up.  I'm checking again shortly, but I only see a glint every now and then.  It started off so clear though, sighs.  Well, I guess I'm watching Dec 21 2010, thats the next one.

I was planning on going out and watching it...but the news said because of the lack of reflection on the moon...it'd be too dark to see.

It's so cloudy tonight that I can't even see the damn start. So much for a Lunar Eclipse. It's an entire sky eclipse.

FR:
It was beautiful, and we were fortunate enough here to have a crystal clear sky (barring atmospheric pollution effects.....). And the two bright "stars" close by were (according to Yahoo) the planet Saturn and the star Regulus. DO NOT ask me which was which!

Fast Reply,

Those who would like to have some really fine Astrophotography.
Including this stunning record of a "Lunar Eclipse Mosaic"   I
recommend this site.  Astrophotography by Anthony Ayiomamitis

He not only put up his pictures but gives great detail about what it
took to get them.  Including being willing to show some of his failures.

It's OK to admit to your strikeouts when you hit this many home runs.

Enjoy!

Glad you enjoyed it GreedyTop.

Don't miss going to the blue box on the left edge of
the homepage and checking out all of it.  Especially
this page of "Favorite Images"

When I set up a computer I always include some of
these in the wallpaper choices.  I think some of them
are breathtakingly beautiful.

Another favorite of mine is this NASA site:

Astronomy Picture of the Day Archive

A different picture gets posted every day.  If fact it was
this page that turned me on to Mr Ayiomamitis's page.

After you are taken from the list to the image you can
then usually click on the image for a large wonderful
wallpaper image.  Enjoy some more!
