I once got told that my voice was too low for a submissive, that I needed to work on raising the pitch and sound more girly (maybe it should be noted that most who comment on my voice say I have a wonderful 900 voice).

It certianly was a comment that caused a WTF moment for me as I never knew that vocal tenor was a clue to one's personality.

And I've gotten the occasional comments that I'm too capeable as a single mother/female to make a good submissive.

I wonder what other strange paradigms are floating around.

I  have been told I am too goofy to be dominant.

I responded by saying I seriously had no intention of dominating her. The irony was missed...:)

just a few off the top:
 
redheads have horrible tempers.
 
not having a "tan", or not being naturally brown, is a turn off.
 
submissives all have a dominant side...no matter how small.

That is the sort of thing that drives me nuts.  It's an assumption some have that submissives are incompetent or too soft, or incapable of living their life without intervention.  As LA would say, it's more poison.

I'd love to have Demi Moore's voice.  It sounds very sexy.

All women are submissives, even the ones who claim they are dominant. They just haven't met the right dom.

This statement was made in the first conversation I ever had with my partner. Along with a long, elaborate clarifications of why it is so. Funny now, a little over a year later we bring this up and both laugh our asses off...

It's not my feet, it's the male progeny who lives with me.

I have been told one time or another:

Too intelligent to be submissive.
Do not write/talk like a submissive would.

But my favorite is the standard too independent to be a submissive. Like if one can function outside of a power exchange relationship that they are incapable of being in one.


My biggest pet peeve is often the undertones that creep into a lot of people's words that infer dominance to equate wisdom and strength and submissve equates naivitiy and weakness.

i've been told:

- i'm too fat and ugly to be a submissive and don't belong here because only beautiful submissives attract a dominant's eye

those are some horrible things to say.  (and I'm biting my tongue about the fat woman= low self esteem bullshit)

it was just funny because I have to make the heir to my non existant fortune leave his shoes outside the house.

and I got a paperroute when I was 9 so I could buy my own clothes.

i usually get those types of messages once a month from wanna-bes with no pics on their profiles. i guess it makes them feel better after being rejected by someone else.

I love it even more when they tell me that My Lord is not dominant enough, that I need to be taught manners (usually because I have replied to their request for a nude pic by telling them I'm not their source for free porn or told them that their hard on sounds like a personal problem since I'm not their slave.)  I've been told that I have to obey because I'm a submissive, had messenger conversations that went from "what do you do for a living?" to "is your pussy shaved?" just that fast, and then express confusion when I cut them off.  One of them even asked if I get my daughters involved.[:@]

I think the most valuable thing I learned from this site is that a true dom is patient, and understands that use of the body is only a pathway to the use of the mind.  A true dom is willing to put in the time, while the rest are only, to quote My Lord, dicks who aren't very good at being dicks.

I'm aghast that people have said such vile things to you. I've had the odd 'I wasn't really interested in you anyway b/c I didn't realise you were a lardass' comment, but they're immediately deleted with a grin as I would hate to allow even a tiny space for such vitriole to enter my life.

To OmegaG, a typical one for me is "You're too nice to be sadistic". So when I flayed the skin from his cock & balls and then soaked them in Corsodyl, I asked if he still felt I was too 'nice' to be sadistic. He wimpered, "I won't ever think that again." Good boy.
