Petdave has put together exactly how a pet feels its service should be. i want also to add that if we are mistreated we can turn to "gremlins" very quickly.. (At least i tend to feel this way) Its funny how with one Mistress once that i interacted, even tho she knew that i was a pet and told her so, she was trying to turn me into a pay pig..... What a mistake that was for her... She didn't hear the end of it once she thought she had me hooked lol...

Stateplace, no matter what you feel you are inside, it's just a lot easier to think in dog terms as a sub. Sub and pup work very well. Cat and sub just don't do it.

I know there are a number of people here into animal play who consider themselves cats, but I can't imagine being in both a submissive head and a cat head. As a cat I could be playful, fun and could defiantly arrogantly hiss if punished, as if to say, is that all you've got?   I could possibly curl up next to or in the lap of Mistress as a Her contented, glad-to-be-back-home Tomcat, but could not curl up at or under her feet. And I'd expect to be petted by hand, not scratched behind the ear with Her toe.  If She felt like feeding me from a bowl on the floor and I wasn't in the mood, I'd turn away no matter how hard She tried to swat or force me to.

Tricks? Obedience? Leash walking?  Ha! Not me-ow.

Somehow for me, cat and sub just don't mix. Now watch the fur fly when all the cats and kittys read this.

(BTW, PetPete, I agree, treats for Petdave, he seems to have it down perfectly.)

Funny, it works very well for us.

Maybe you haven't ever owned cats, or maybe you just haven't had lap cats. But in my short life I've directly owned (or lived with for long periods of time - think years) 10 cats and known five others very well as they belong to my parents. Many of these cats *loved* to be petted, would accept being rubbed with a foot, I have yet to see a cat refuse food in a bowl, and though I've seen them ignore steak I have yet to see them ignore dry kibble.

Kittens and cats can be quite owned, friendly, and loving - both humans and the actual animals. Our two like to sleep at our feet, beg for attention, one will stand for treats and many of the cats I've known, when actually attached to the people they live with, will follow their favorite person around. Ours included.

Saying submissives/slaves can't be cats or kitten just implies, to me, a lack of understanding of pet cats or subs/slaves.

My seven year old kitty will respond to "sit" and "high five". Both of my kitties follow me around "like dogs".

Many people walk their cats on a leash. Some even train them to use the toilet.

One of mine was bottle fed from two weeks old, one raised from her first day of life. I think people that haven't had indoor lap cats, or "hand raised cats", don't understand. You have to develop a relationship with a cat. Dogs, well most dogs, just like everybody.

Still, my Dom is a dog person, and puppy analogies work best for Him, so that is what we use. I think it is because He is slightly allergic to kitties. Meo-w-oof.

Others won't walk well - we didn't start them young enough. But we will use one of those stake things and let them roam around in our backyard tied to that while we sit on lawnchairs - like dogs. Like dogs, they are a little sad that they can't roam further but they seem happy to be outside.

As a sub ... you have much experience being a submissive?

Putting aside the question that submissives are as varied as people are varied, I've owned an array of animals over the years.  I have a 4 lb. peek right now that is 100% alpha (and driving me up the wall).  I live with a 60 lb. husky that is submissive to the core.  I met a three-year old cat recently that climbed on my shoulder and started sucking on my finger.  I owned one years ago that took a swipe at me everytime I walked by wearing nylons.  Critters are as resistant to generalizations as people, or so it seems to me.

I do appreciate what all your inner feline subs have to say,  and have no argument with you. The operative words of my post were: Somehow for me, cat and sub just don't mix. I've had both, in fact more cats than dogs in my life. Although I love dogs, if I had to choose between the two I'd rather share my life with the tacit approval of a cat.

But for me, a cat is my independent side. I'll be loving, let you pet me, maybe even show you my belly if you don't push it. I may forget myself and show appreciation for that tasty treat or new toy you brought home for me, if I like it. I'll use the cat box, but because I prefer to. You may know me, and how to get me to do what you want, but don't think You own me or that I am doing what you want because I'm obedient. I'm just showing my approval of you. Today. And that can be withdrawn  anytime I've the notion. Try putting me in a bath tub or doing something I don't like to my paws and you'll see soon enough.

Not so for my pup side. Pull my ears, I'm still yours. Lock me in a room while You're off doing something else, I'll still come when You call. I may have chewed up a shoe because I was lonely and sad and needed something to pacify me, but not like the cat who pissed in your shoe to show something else. Show me my collar or leash and I'll follow You anywhere. Say "Let's play pup." and I'm there eager to please You. If You have my pup side, You have my unconditional love, affection, obedience and loyalty.

But that's me.
