I've recently purchased a Bullwhip and i'm having problems on finding information on how to use it corretly on my sub. Any help would be appreciated.

Unless you have used one before I recommend that you practice until you can control it and hit your mark. Maybe use cards strung up on a cloth line or something like that. It is a whip that takes a lot of time before you use it on a person. Mike

Find someone else that does have experience with it and meet with them. This is not really a just read the manual type of thing.

Use a pillow.. LOTS when you can knock something small off the pillow 8 out of 10 times then maybe you can try on a person

Holey smokes. This is exactly the reason I tell people I have a couple of hard limits which are mine and will never change.. And softer limits that have to do with how much trust I put in my partner. There is no way I would allow someone to use a bullwhip on me until I could trust he knew what he was doing. Kyst

Bull whips can split the skin open with very little effort on your sub. causing massive amounts of physical and emotional damage. Have someone who works with single tails show and mentor you in your local area. One should never be "tried out" on a person ever if you have not had tons ( I am talking months) of practice. I also advise that you have it tried on you by someone who teaches it.. and decide if this is the route you want to take your submissive and if she can handle this. It looks showy.. and is in a lot of pulp fiction novels... but it is very serious business, and can do massive amounts of damage. Never gag a submissive who is doing this activity. They need to be able to fully breathe through thier mouth, and give thier safe word and feed back. You can bet "you mother fucking son of a bitch" also doubles as thier safe word in a pinch. If you live in an country setting, or in a fenced in yard setting.. hang a pillow on a laundry line and practice on it. Get to a point where you can hit a circle drawn on the middle of the pillow. Then switch to a playing card set up on the line. You are not going for strong or hard strokes. You are going for exacting strokes. Read up on it. Get some medical background.. make sure your sub knows the down sides.. and that she really wants to do this still. All macho this looks coolness aside. Just like some of the things that we do.. this is a dangerous thing.. and damaging. Go slowly. Good luck and feel free to message and ask questions. Gwyn

Not the king of all singltail permissions here, but I'll tell you the practicle tests I had to perform before my teaches said I would be ready to make contact with live flesh targets. Play permitted before passing the tests had to meet the following standard. Measure the total length of the whip, Stand that distance + 1 foot from the person. (Thus not much chance you are actually going to make contacts, but you can scare the hell out of them.) Test #1 consistantly break 1" or less sections off the end of dry spaggetti noodle targets. When you can cut the noodle target 1" sections through 4 pieces (1" sections cut 9 throws per noodle X 4 noodles Noodle is about 11" long and need 2 inches to hold it to the frame) Test #2 hang a single ply sheet of toilet paper from a clothespin and sting, When you can trow the whip, with a cracking sound moving the paper but not tearing it for 50 throws in a row, you have passed this test. Throw it and tear the paper on the 49th throw Start over at 1.

In so many ways this topic reminds me of the safety training we did at Texaco. I had helped develop a bunch of CBTs (ok...not THAT kind: Computer Based Training modules, you pervs!) for a lot of the training; but some of it just could NOT be handled online. Take ‘How to Don a Respirator’… doesn’t work online! We developed an actual test where we filled a small trailer with smoke and had the guys enter the thing with their masks on; all of a sudden they GOT why it was so important to learn the task correctly! I would say the same goes for whips. Find someone who knows how to throw a whip and work with them…and practice, practice, practice until you can hit exactly where and how hard you wanna…every single time. THEN try someone’s backside…after you understand why it is so important to learn the task correctly. Hell, you could put an eye out with that thing!!! <smiles> MsB edited to add: Yeah, what Archer said! [:)]

Domino i have not seen the video, but i have one of his whips i bought after talking to him, watching him braid a whip, and watching him throw whips at an event in the "whip lounge"...i also remember talking to him about the making of the video and if it is the same one i remember (and not one that is due to come out in the future) it is quite humorus too...but basically, i don't believe he would put his name on anything that was not top quality.... oh and my general recomendation for the "how do i use a bull whip (or any other single tail)" question... LEARN FROM SOMEONE IN PERSON...you're only dealing with something that has the potential to flail open the person on the other end...i have permanent scars from a bull whip, but i knew that they were going to be put there before i stepped in front of the whip, and i said yes, i want them to be put there, because i trusted the skill of the person on the other end of the whip... chelle

Someone once told me the best way to master the skill of a single tail (bull whips fit this catagory) is to use a box of tissue. And once you can remove each tissue individually from the box, without tearing it, you've got the control you need to use it on a person. Now, my advice is to find a local whip club or gathering. They're all over the country. Mostly for people who use whips for shows like the rodeo or circus acts, but they are genearlly more than willing to pass on tricks of their trade. They'll also be able to help you learn the various types of whips and components and how to get a good one, plus good whip care which is incredibly important for the longevity of your whip investment.

The key with a bullwhip is control. They are very powerful and until you really have control be very cautious. You should be able to stand at full distance and put your whip tip into a 8" diameter target area 24 out of 25 times. Once you can do this you have the needed control. The problem is they have long tales and can wrap extensively and you're already talking about an object moving at 770 mph (speed of sound is broken which is why you hear the tip crack), yes, that is the speed, on a wrap it is possible to get it 50% higher... now you know why it can cut through skin as easy as a hot knife thorough butter. If you don't have control stay away from the head by putting a pillow over the neck and protection around the face. Start easily and be prepared to not have a crack. Toss the whip more than crack it to start. Enjoy.

My Sir has a bull whip and has used it on me - and having been the recipient of such generosity, I would recommend that you practise outside until you get proficient. I have watched other doms practise with his shot loaded bull whip and I wouldn't want them trying it on me. Gentle whipping hurts like hell - and raises marks like you wouldn't believe - and if he makes it wrap - it definitely gets your attention. He has make it raise bloody whelts with very little effort on his part. Nasty thing! I suggested he give it to a dom friend - and he wasn't impressed!!!!!!
