i could sure use some advice to anyone who has computer knowledge.

When i logged onto my yahoo this evening i had the following messages from my former M.  These are from him to me

xxxxxx (2/19/2008 6:31:13 PM): hey...not sure if you're there...not sure if you even use this address anymore...

xxxxxxxx (2/19/2008 6:32:49 PM): but, for some reaason, about once a month, I get this notice about some sort of voice message that's 1:32 long from this address but it's empty

xxxxxxxx (2/19/2008 6:33:48 PM): anyway, just wanted to know if you know anything about that

Now, i have not im'd him in quite some time (several months at least).  i checked my call log and according to that nothing has been sent from my pc.

Anyone have any ideas on this?  Aside from the fact i am freaked simply by the offlines, i am also concerned that something weird is going on. Thanks.

LOL i too am wondering if it is just a rouse (sp?).  Still an odd thing to say, if untrue...an odd thing to happen, if true.

Angelic, although it is possible to hijack your Yahoo email account and send messages from your email address (spammers do this all the time), it is not possible to do that with IM. I would welcome the opportunity to stand corrected. Even if it were technically possible, what are the chances that a stranger would hijack your IM address and send a message to this particular person, whom you just happen to know? No, hijackers would assume your IM address for the purpose of broadcasting spam, not sending targeted messages to someone in your friends list. If you smell crap, there's probably a pile somewhere nearby...

I got a "voice message" through IM on yahoo recently.  It was a song, don't remember which one. I think someone was playing around with buttons and hit something accidentally.

Might be an IM virus or bug.  Try reinstalling it  For awhile there, some people's IM accounts were sending links to everyone on their list, unbeknownst to them.  Maybe yours is placing calls.  My account has rang from calls before but I can't remember if I knew who they were from or not (I never answered).  I also receive automatic emails from friends who have created blogs...sometimes invitations to join their blog automatically go out, also unbeknownst to them.

Is he still on your list?  If so, remove him before you reinstall, so Yahoo won't be tempted to reach out and touch him again.
