A handcuffed Louisiana woman who emerged from a police holding room with two black eyes and broken teeth said that after the arresting officer turned off a monitoring camera he slammed her against a wooden door and then against a metal locker.
Now the Feds are looking into it

I have many cop friends, and they are incensed by the number of "incidences" out there lately.
Time for full time cameras with audio in all places in jails and cop shops?

One assault is too many, i agree, yet seem few by comparison to the vast majority of arrests made by police officers. This, in no way excuses such behaviour, of course, and I've long maintained that cameras with audio should be used as a matter of course for both parties involved and right from the moment the police are called to a situation - the problem, I do see with that though are practicalities... how does one effectively utilise such equipment when officers are on foot - they can't, so there will still be areas of vulnerability.

No charges are being filed against the officer..Accordance with standard procedure to turn off the tape..Bolstered by the support of the police union..No specific laws exist concerning being able to make a phone call..  Remember the quadrapelegic tossed from his wheelchair? Another person has come forward having been hurt at that same police station.  I've fallen, lots. Never wound up with two black eyes, cuts on my face & shoulder injuries all at once from a solitary fall. Maybe if I fell from a roof?

It can happen, Camille. I have a friend who is epileptic, she doesn't thrash around when fitting, but the moment she goes into a fit she falls, hard. The last major seizure she had (last year) was during her holiday abroad, she fell face first onto a hard floor surface (she wasn't on stairs either) and it literally had the effect of caving her face in, broken nose, jaw, cheek bones, etc... she had to have several reconstructive operations.

The problem with alcohol is that people's movements are greatly exaggerated and they often aren't aware of how much force they apply to any kind of action. I'm not saying that's the case with the lady in the OP. What I would like to know is: The Sheriff dismissed the officer involved, yet the officer is not being charged over this incident, why?
