Twice -> Hot wax (2/21/2008 10:20:05 AM)

The Dom-fiance and I tried hot wax for the first time the other night, and it was WONDERFUL!  I kinda wish He didn't START on my nipples, but hey, whatever He wants, right?  It was just shocking, but I loved it and He seemed to, as well.

However, the candle we bought... didn't last long OR burn well.  Does anyone have any tips on what kinds of candle to use?  I know colored and scented ones burn hotter.  Do "bare" candles or jar candles tend to work better?  Obviously, we're both intelligent people and are well-versed in all the safety tips, but we lack to experience to know what is the EASIEST or the most fun.

Personally i am fond of a large crock pot and melted paraffin bought from the craft store.  It can be colored anything you wish, and with the pot idea you can always use different brushes and implements to wax on.

Not that dripping candles isn't fun as well.  [;)]

I'm not so bright on the different sorts - different heights for dripping seems to cover that for me.

But if you're going to play with this, one possible tip - try covering the subject with clingfilm (I think you foreigners call it saranwrap). Slight protection (only slight) from the short sharp burn, but what a joy for cleaning up afterwards!

sweetwenchie -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 10:33:37 AM)

awwwwww  but it is so much for fun to have it all scraped off with a knife afterwards [;)]    just use a bit of olive oil on your skin before putting the wax on.

Parafin..unscented  thats key. Other waxes can get too hot. The scents also burn hotter, I have been told

This is my general wax play design, easily modifiable if you want to
include multiple people.

Supplies: wax, long tip lighter, sheet or tarp, baby oil, knife,
baby powder, blindfold, (if using a crock pot, ladle, spatula,
paintbrush, any other spreading toys that look interesting)

Get the wax: Either two blocks of paraffin and two glassed church
candles melted together in a crock pot, or just the church candles
for easier transporting. I haven't noticed much temperature
derivation using these types of candles, but white wax is harder to
see where it falls and green tends to just look black on a person.
Start prep at least 2 hours before the scene by lighting the candles
or starting the wax to melt. If the candles are cold, it will take
longer and the wax won't melt as evenly

Prep the area: Flat surface is necessary, a bondage or massage
table usually works fine and is padded. Outside is nice because you
don't have to worry about getting wax on anything. If you are on
the floor, put a flannel sheet or comforter down first to keep
things from being too cold. Cover with an old sheet or tarp, and if
you're off the floor, cover the area nearby as well. Wax will get
everywhere! Lay out all supplies beforehand, you don't want to have
to leave burning candles or naked person alone too long. Also, make
sure your area is well-heated. Even though the wax will get them
warm and give them a nice shell, when it comes off they will feel
the cooler air.

Prep the people: Don't wear your good fetish gear! Again, wax will
get everywhere. For the waxer, wear throw away clothes and/or an
apron. For the waxee, get them naked and blindfolded. I like to
have their focus totally on the wax sensations and you don't have to
worry about wax splattering into eyes. Lay them down on the
surface, starting stomach down usually works best.

Start the scene: Start to connect with the bottom by massaging
their skin, letting them relax into position and get used to your
touch. Massage the baby oil onto their skin. Not only does this
feel yummy, but prevents wax from painfully sticking to hair and
makes it much easier to peel or scrape off. Once you're fully into
the scene, you can get into the wax.

Waxing: I start generally about 18 inches above the persons skin.
Get a good full layer all over their body. Be careful about
dripping on the sides as the skin is more sensitive. Once you've
established an initial layer, you can have more fun with sensations,
bringing the wax lower or higher to build heat (the higher the wax,
the more the splatter). You can paint the wax on, let it drip
slowly or just wash it over them with a ladle. The feet are also
lots of fun. On the stomach, be careful of the belly button.
Sometimes it's good just to put a plug of wax in there or cover it
with a cotton ball.

Removing wax: Wax is likely to still be slightly soft and pliable.
If you're peeling the wax, getting as much in one motion is a very
awesome feeling for the sub. Slowly start at the edges and pull up,
gathering the wax as you go. If you scrape, just press down gently
and pull towards the wax and down. There's always a few drips and
splatters to scrape off. If you've used oil, it should come off
fairly easily. Don't try to get off every piece of wax- a good
shower will do the best job at that.

After the wax: Once you've removed the wax, I sprinkle babypowder
all over the skin. The skin is very sensitive at this point and the
cool softness of the powder feels like rose petals just falling
down. You can rub the powder in and smooth over the skin. This
will help dry off some of the oil as well.

If you want to reuse your sheet, put it in the freezer to freeze the
wax, take it outside and get as much as you can off by shaking or
pulling it. Then toss in the washer and drier to remove the rest.

You're just an ole wimp young lady. What's wrong with flicking it off with a whip (of the design of your own choice of course - crop for newbies, cat-o-nine-tails for more serious fun, single tail if you're mad for that).  [;)]

sweetwenchie -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 10:47:14 AM)

i am mad for single tail fun [;)]   and for knife play, cats, quirts, what have you.  But nothing wimpy about wanting to feel cold steel against my skin is there?

MistressNoName -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 10:50:44 AM)

I like the parrafin in the crock pot idea...I would think you do the same in one of those oil diffuser things...but in much smaller amts, of course. I have heard one good way of adding colors without having to worry about high burn temps (of the colored candles) is to use crayons...I guess you could use a small grater or pencil sharpener, mix the shavings in with the melted wax. I've not tried any wax play myself, but hope to get a chance very soon. Am interested in other's opinions about the crayon method.

MissHarlet -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 10:59:18 AM)

Parrafin can be colored with food coloring .... and a turkey baster is great for dripping it .. I have used several with the food coloring added to each baster so each is a different color..... and the knife sitting in a bucket of ice until you choose to take the wax off offers a great contrast in sensations..... candles used for birthday cakes burn wayy to hot they can easily burn the skin .. I marked the skin of a sub for life with one of those .... oops ... not the favorite thing for a sub to hear from his dominate .... lol

christine1 -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 11:32:54 AM)

the scented candles are so fun, but they do burn hotter and whatever they use to scent them with can cause some really nasty allergic reactions if your skin is sensitive...take my word on this.

SassySue -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 1:15:46 PM)

I use a hand spa, two blocks of parafin and a glass dipper... LA gave some great tips.  Cover everything and enjoy!!

BTW, how does one SAFELY scrape the wax off of nipples and other tender parts? Note: pain is not so much the issue as safety is.

A spatula, butterknife, fingers.

Depends on how oiled the skin and wax is and how risky you want to make it.

PanthersMom -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 4:42:07 PM)

i absolutely love the feel of warm soft wax being peeled off my back!

Zenonis -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 4:46:49 PM)

Enjoy wax play too. What I have learned is to aviod the tall, thin dinner table ones. They contain styrene to raise the melting temperature. To test a candle, on the bottom press your finger nail into the wax. If it is soft and moves away from your nail without cracking or piling up in little crumbles, then the wax will be the type for play.
As for taking it off... I think the most intesnse thing was to use my sword to take it off.

Try soy candles.

We're not into wax play, although beth enjoyed an experience or two, however people who are used soy candles we gave them and rave about them. They burn at low temperature and the 'wax' can be used almost as a massage oil. No expertise should be inferred, but from reviews we've heard, the scent and color have no influence.

For you 'PETA' types - soy candles are Vegan friendly. No bees are abused in the production of soy candles.

I always thought wax play was more like torture, like a French wax (ripping the hair out).

You all make it sound quite nice.

michelemybelle -> RE: Hot wax (2/21/2008 5:42:49 PM)

Yankee Candle is always good:)
