Pavel -> RE: Is this normal behaviour in chat??? (9/18/2005 1:21:18 PM)

To be honest, I kinda enjoy the weirdos in chat. I suppose as a male, I don't get lots and lots of attention from the majority of wackjobs, but the ones I usually get are easy to toy with. Suggested counter-idiot tactics;

1. Demand passwords or authorization. This is best when combined with a response to an inncorrect password, or them getting confused ("password incorrect, user denied access to sexy webcam" or my favorite "access denied, homeland security alerted")

2. Respond with a totally unexptected phrase/word (I've taken to going "ribbit" or other animal noises whenever I get unwanted messages).

3. Accuse the accuser. When stupid people get in my face online, I tend to accuse them of being "card carrying memebers of the communist party" or alternately "scientologists." Bonus points are awarded based on how wild one can make the accusation ("You killed kenny and JFK!").

4. Probe to find out what exactly your oppostion happens to be. If they happen to be say, an Arab Male (I had a whole pile of guys from the middle east on yahoo who seemed quite convinced for reasons lost on me I was a hot american female just begging to have sex with them), claim to only lust for somthing totally opposite/potentially offensive to them (as in the Arab male case, I claimed to only have eyes for jewish people, which is semi-true, as I haven't met a jewish girl I wasn't quite fond of).

5. Speak in tounges. Most people give up after a few lines of text going like "glafph blahooty gamorgen!"

6. Use jedi mind tricks.

So long story short, yes, idiots are common in chat. They come in all shapes and varieties, and I suppose if you want to try to use chat, you just have to learn to adapt to them in one way or the other. I've talked to some spiffy people via chat though, so I'm not exactly giving up hope.

Would that we could do an immediate ID on people like this and some others and with one keystroke either melt their computer down to a smoking pile of rubble .

Wouldn't that be a wet dream come true?

You're upset because an absolute stranger--someone who doesn't know your identity, whom you're never going to meet, and whom you didn't want to talk to anyway--got frustrated and called you a pedophile?

If that kind of thing gets under your skin, maybe anonymous chatting on the internet isn't for you.

junecleaver -> RE: Is this normal behaviour in chat??? (9/18/2005 8:01:58 PM)

Hm. I consider this normal behavior for the internet, especially chatrooms. I meet as many stupid people on the internet as I do real life. It's just people on the internet are more open about their stupidity. My suggestion: find another, more productive hobby than chatrooms....like message boards! rofl

Besides...the people who are so serious and uber Dom/sub that they get offended over internet protocol and the clueless....are almost as annoying as the actual HNGs

[sm=lol.gif]These are funny as hell Pavel, and am going to try them next time.
You should post them in Humor. M

And it is indeed up in the humor section, plus four other things I've done in the past to annoying folks...

The person in question apparently got their "widdle feewings huwt". Awwwww. Seriously, though, some people just can't deal with rejection. In my experience, the people in the chat rooms are the ones that are a bit more desperate and just want laid however they can get it, and they tend to lash out when they are turned down. (THAT'S JUST MY EXPERIENCE! NO FLAMES PLEASE!)

oceangem -> RE: Is this normal behaviour in chat??? (9/20/2005 9:46:08 AM)

Most chat rooms have Ops or Moderators in them. If someone pm's without permission all that is needed is to bring it to the attention of the room. If they are rude like the person was to you, again bring it to the attention of the room. In most rooms actions like these are not tolerated and either the person will leave on his/her own or with the help of one of the OPs, and if they persist in returning and annoying the roomies that last option is a ban. Most nights in the #bdsm_canada room there are a couple of people that can assist in that. Hope that you do come back and visit us again.
