Yes, but such experiences are part of what makes walking into your warm house – your home – so much more meaningful.

Although New York State does a good job of keeping the Routes under its care well plowed the same can’t be said for some of the local governments. In my city there are side streets that never get plowed. A common joke is that, contrary to popular belief, the city does have a snow removal plan – it’s called Spring.

Although Winter is not without it’s charms, it’s own serene beauty, I confess that by the end of February I have had my fill. I am so ready for Spring. Alas, I will patiently endure the twenty degree weather and the slippery pavement, confident that it is only a matter of weeks before that first day when the temp shoots up to fifty-five and I can throw open all the windows. People who live in warmer climes may have an easier time of it dealing with their "winter," but they will never truly understand the glory that is Spring.
P.S. In all fairness, our new Mayor has been doing a better job of it than his predecessors – the last few years the sides streets have been getting occasionally plowed.
